Bill Skarsgård and FKA Twigs in love: first footage of the new "The Crow" has emerged
The publication Vanity Fair shared the first shots of the movie "The Crow", based on the comic book of the same name by James O'Barr. The photo showed the main characters of the tape — Eric and Shelly, whose roles are performed by Bill Skarsgård and FKA Twigs.
The director of the upcoming picture was Rupert Sanders ("Snow White and the Huntsman"). According to Sanders, Eric's image was inspired by the production's life in a London squat in the '90s, as well as some contemporary artists such as Post Malone and Lil Peep.
"The Crow" will tell the story of sweethearts Eric and Shelly. They are brutally murdered when Shelly's past, which she tried to run away from, does catch up with her. But Eric is resurrected by a mysterious raven and brought back to the world of the living so he can avenge the death of his beloved.
The upcoming film is not the first adaptation of O'Barr's comic book: in 1994, Australian director Alex Proyas released the thriller "The Crow", starring Brandon Lee. The actor tragically died on set, something Sanders said he thought about constantly while making the new movie.
"Brandon was an original voice and I think he will always be synonymous with'The Crow', and I hope he’s proud of what we’ve done and how we’ve brought the story back again. His soul is very much alive in this film. There's a real fragility and beauty in his version of 'The Crow', and I think Bill feels like he is a successor to that".
The new film will premiere on June 7.
