Paramount has also renewed "Strange New Worlds" for a fourth season — even before the third season premieres.

The animated series "Star Trek: Lower Decks" is coming to an end: Paramount+ will close the project after the upcoming fifth season. The finale will premiere this fall.

The action of "Lower Decks" — the first animated series in the "Star Trek" universe — develops in the year 2380. The show tells the adventures of Captain Freeman and three members of the auxiliary crew serving on one of Starfleet's least important ships, the starship Cerritos.

Paramount+ has also renewed the series "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" for a fourth season. The show premiered in 2022, and right now filming is underway for the third installment, which is set for release in 2025. No release date for the fourth season has been revealed.

The series "Strange New Worlds" tells the story of the days when Captain Christopher Pike was at the helm of the USS Enterprise. The ship's crew explores new worlds and undertakes missions throughout the galaxy.

What great news about Strange New Worlds 🥰 Of all the new Star Trek series projects, this one is very far gone. Looking forward to the third season and the new adventures of Pike and the team 😊

It is a pity, of course, that the Lower Decks are completed. Just recently, I watched all the episodes in one gulp (and now I seem to regret it). But I think it would be ideal for them to close the arches of the characters for just five seasons. Eh... Okay, let's wait for the finale 😌

Of course, it is not clear why to complete a great series, which can be released forever due to the specifics of the narrative. Probably because people don't watch it? (No) It is not clear and sad 😞

@budurr: in this universe, you can easily launch a new animated series.

@budurr: it is difficult to imagine a sale of this kind. Star Trek, one of the main universes in the hands of the Paramount, let it stay that way.

Sadly. The lower decks are the best things that have been released on Star Trek since Voyager. But 5 seasons is not bad either.

Maybe a live-action movie will be filmed? That crossover series with Strange New Worlds was cool

Oh, it's a pity that they're closing. I like the lower decks. A kind of "Downton Abbey" about the service in space.

It's a shame for the lower decks, of course. Great cartoon.

@Naviga-ToR: The Pantheon is looped" - you can endlessly review it, but you can also release a movie with an alternative ending.
I'm rather skeptical about stretching the last 2 episodes to 2 seasons.

It's a pity, I'd love to watch it at least before Mariner becomes captain and Boimler becomes XO. Or vice versa, it is also normal.

The news is sad, but it's better to leave at the peak than to suck the plot out of nothing, just for the sake of hype.
Moreover, if they want to return it, they will return it either as a new series about the same Persians, or something else, as they are doing now with cartoons on TV.
In general, now animation, especially 2D, is very expensive and pays off little.
Most likely, they will really just transfer the characters to Live Action and continue as long as they can
