ABC has renewed "The Rookie" with Nathan Fillion for a seventh season
Nathan Fillion will be back next year: ABC channel has renewed the series "The Rookie" for a seventh season even before the sixth season finale — it won't be released until May 21.
The sixth season showed surprisingly high ratings: the premiere of the new chapter attracted almost 12 million viewers on all platforms and became the most watched episode of the show in the last six years. Also, the project's audience increased by 27% compared to the fifth season.
The series centers on 45-year-old John Nolan, a recently divorced construction worker from Pennsylvania. A bank incident changes his life, and Nolan decides to move to Los Angeles to join the police force. After graduating from the academy, he becomes the oldest rookie in the city's police department.
The next episode, the seventh, will premiere on April 30.
