The new version of the comedy series "The Office" is starting to get a cast: Domhnall Gleeson ("About Time") and Sabrina Impacciatore ("The White Lotus") have joined the cast of the upcoming project. Who exactly they will play, it is unknown.

The new series is being developed by Greg Daniels, the creator of American "The Office," and Michael Koman, the screenwriter of the comedy "Nathan for You". Earlier it was reported that the upcoming show will not be an overload of "The Office", but a spin-off: its action will develop in the same universe as the original, but the project will tell about a different office and its employees.

The premiere of the series "The Office" took place in 2005. The project told about the daily life of employees of one of the branches of a not very successful paper company "Dunder Mifflin". The branch is managed by manager Michael Scott, who wants to be for employees something more than just a boss. However, he often goes too far in his efforts to please his subordinates. Thanks to Michael and the rest of the staff, every day at the branch is not like a typical office routine.

The office is a legend and has been sewn into the heart for a long time and forever. It is difficult to perceive such news, because initially there is some kind of bias and distrust of the new project

Why should we do this?
It's good, of course, that it wasn't a restart, but all the charm of the Office was in jokes on the verge, daring, not politically correct, stupid moments, from the category of "What? 😂😂😂». And now, in my opinion, they won't be able to take it off. And to look at toothless humor, well, that

@suzanna9491: now I periodically see how in TV series, and maybe in movies, they start to joke a little more boldly, I think there are chances for a normal spin-off.

With Gleason, I'm ready to watch anything.

By the way, he and Steve Carell have a joint mini-series Patient. Not bad,
both actors played interesting characters, personally, I saw them in such roles for the first time.

I will be glad to see, as long as the actors are good, I hope there will be no censorship and the free tone will remain as in the original

@luvrok: If memory serves, the same Mindy Kaling either at the next reunion of the producer-cast of the Office, or in a separate interview a few years ago apologized for some jokes. They say how politically incorrect they are, and no matter how they release them now, and how ashamed she is. And, in my opinion, it concerned Michael's remarks. Well, damn, a character who generally had the sense to give out a cringe and like "you don't have to say and do that". I.e., Kaling didn't even understand the series, well, or pretended to be a fool so that she wouldn't fly.

@Bairum: as far as I remember, Kaling was the writer of the series, individual episodes for sure, so she definitely understood everything there

@neykluja: Yes, it's clear that the screenwriter saw the credits, as well as the whole series. Fortunately, she was not the only one who was engaged in the script, and there were more adequate authors there. But such wok screenwriters, who are ashamed of something in a satirical work, should not be allowed to go a kilometer to the spin-off, otherwise they will write there.

@Bairum: Well, to be fair, some of the jokes of that time now really wouldn't have gone
through. jokes of this time?

@neykluja: so what's the point of apologizing for something that was relevant, funny and worked at the time? However, the unreliable and politically correct will write so that all the unique and vulnerable snowflakes will be delighted. P.S. One damn Philadelphia is a ray in the dark kingdom. For almost twenty years, they have been annealed in a way that others could not even dream of, and for some reason they do not apologize or bow out to anyone. And somehow nothing has suddenly become outdated for them.

The office is a straight childhood TV series and the most beloved sitcom 😍News about adaptation is not really like that...but if the director is the same, there is a chance that there will be something worthy at the level of the original))

@Jeronimoo: 1) You feel fucking old when someone writes a childhood TV series, and you went to university at the same time as the series was released, not to mention the English version, which you watched even earlier. 2) A little pillow. The office had more than fifty directors, so the same director is a stretch concept. For TV series, the director is much less important than for films. But the writers' room and, of course, the showrunner/showrunners - yes.

@Jeronimoo: I don't even know what to say. It should be understood that the American Office was actually trying to translate the English original in its own way, word for word. And at that moment, he was not very visible to me personally. Plus, the British, especially at that time, did not have the Hollywood gloss, which means that both the actors and the shooting style itself felt much more like a real documentary. At that time, the same Martin Freeman was not a global star, and many other people had not yet become familiar, including the author and performer of the role of chief Ricky Gervais. But when the Americans ran out of material for remaking (fortunately, the English version has only two short - by American standards - seasons, this is a season and a half of the remake), the American version slowly began to acquire its own voice and uniqueness, and became one of the best sitcoms. But only when freedom from the original appeared. By the way, David Brent is not Michael Scott at all. There is another presentation of jokes, and another charisma (personally, Gervais himself, on some subconscious level, causes distrust and rejection, despite the fact that he watched many of his projects and standups, and as a presenter it burns at all, but at the same time he does not smell idiocy, which is inherent in the characters of Carell of those years and the early seasons of the Office, Brent/Gervais is also more realistic initially, but Scott/Carell then pulled himself up and stopped being a one-dimensional character). In short, I don't know. If you haven't watched the American version for a long time and don't remember it verbatim, maybe it will. Fortunately, the British have a Christmas special, which is considered the finale of the series and, of course, is radically different from what will be in the remake. And the feature film shot many years later, David Brent: Life on the Road, which continues the story of the boss in completely different circumstances. Plus, Gervais amusingly beat the characters' lives in the Christmas finale after their lives were shown in the series. P.S. As I understand it, Brent's epic cameo in the American office, when he crossed paths with Michael and finished his joke, you didn't notice - that's a pity, of course.

@Bairum: thank you very much for such a detailed report, you were very intrigued, I really like it when the adaptation is completely different from the original, and the characters and humor, and the actors, of course, means more or less interesting too..There are not many seasons to watch, at least for comparison)))
