Данная кинокартина полностью реабилитировала в моих глазах Кристен Стюарт, здесь она сыграла довольно-таки неплохо. Эти мешки под глазами, эта усталость на лице, даже ее знаменитая безэмоциональность великолепно вписалась в созданный ею образ. И если раньше она ассоциировалась у меня исключительно с вампирской сагой, то тут на это не было и малейшего намека. Да и сам фильм получился просто отличным, этакая смесь Жюля Верна и Лавкрафта, местами очень атмосферно, местами жутко, иногда даже можно было уловить некоторое сходство со старым добрым "Чужим".

The plot is in a few words: a greedy corporation was drilling the bottom of the ocean to pump out more resources, and woke up a huge creature (read the illithid from DnD), which has a symbiosis with the same creatures, but smaller. And they fucked up their whole set-up. That's it.
The film is about nothing. Jump scare is not jump scare at all, you will jump more from an unexpected sharp sound effect than from what is happening on the screen. There are too many frames showing the faces of the characters inside the helmet, while not creating an oppressive atmosphere of uncertainty about what is happening. There is no claustrophobic atmosphere in enclosed underwater rooms or in the same elevator. It was as if they were shooting " to fuck off", without much desire.
