Description

In late 1967, a young orphaned boy goes to live with his loving grandma in the rural Alabama town of Demopolis. As the boy and his grandmother encounter some deceptively glamorous but thoroughly diabolical witches, she wisely whisks him away to a seaside resort. Regrettably, they arrive at precisely the same time that the world's Grand High Witch has gathered.

Why?! Well, why?! A shabby remake of the gorgeous 1989 fairy tale of the same name based on the work of Roald Dahl. A famous lover of both children and scaring children. In general, a man could also scare adults. I recommend watching/reading things related to his name: from "Willy Wonka" to the TV series "Non-fictional Stories". So, yes, this is a very bad movie. About like the Nanny's Guide, only not from Netflix, but from HBO Max, and not from the forgotten director, but from Robert Zemeckis himself (Bob, what kind of quagmire has been sucking you into for the last twenty years, huh?!). Zemeckis really likes experimenting with technology and relying on computer graphics, but he is much more likely to fail these experiments now than to move the industry forward. OK, I'm not going to pretend that the mouse dolls that witches turn children into from the 1989 movie don't look artificial now, but they damn well don't look cheap even thirty years later. Remember when I said we'd go back to Jim Henson? So, he was the one who did the special effects in the original. And what gorgeous villains there were! Of course, there is the merit of the actresses themselves, but makeup can still make a morally strong-willed man cry and huddle in a corner. What's in the remake coming out? Ann Hathaway, making disgusting faces with a computer slurp (I don't even want to humiliate Angelica Huston with a comparison), and mouse models generated in three days. If you've seen the original, you shouldn't waste time on the new version. If you haven't seen the original, check out the original. Plus, of course, the main positive characters are now black. This is extremely important for the narrative (no). By the way, there is a really important difference - they changed the ending to a darker one and, as far as I understand, close to the original source, but this does not fundamentally change the matter.

good. not wow, but the
plot is not bad either, good (sometimes creaky) graphics, gorgeous soundtracks.
in principle, the picture pleases, so Anne is madly playing the role of a villain, such a charm
