The book is really better, as well as 100,500 other film adaptations of King, however, I can say that the film turned out to be good. It's just worth watching it not relying on the original source, but evaluating it as a single work.

Mike Flanagan may be the most talented director, and I haven't seen a single bad project from him. One of the best in the horror genre

It's nice to see the same cast as in The Fall of the House of Usher. Mike Flanagan is a handsome man, he does not leave his actors, especially Kate Siegel, who, by the way, has been his wife since 2016.

The Flanagan gang is in place. The shining eyes are in place.
The atmosphere is in place.
Classic.

But the film is not something that I would like . I would even say that I looked at it without much enthusiasm.
I don't even understand why that is. It's just a normal movie that I've been putting off watching for a long time and it turns out I could still put it off for a while :)
On the other hand, I won't call it bad in any way.
It turns out to be a normal , average, evening movie without much enthusiasm..

Boring, about nothing. Although the idea is cool, maybe they beat it more interestingly in the book, I haven't read it. But it was boring to watch the movie, I rewound after 30 minutes of the movie to find out the ending.
