Description
It’s 2041 and the gaps in social and economic inequality have left the world on the brink. A breakthrough in science has given humanity the ability to bring victims of a violent crime back to life by backing up their brain every 2 days. This allows an ambitious, young detective the opportunity to solve a case of a murdered couple when the restoration team is able to bring one of them back.
The picture was played and staged in a rather poor emotional manner, which sometimes makes it seem that you are watching some kind of high-quality, but still a television movie. Robert Chloz succeeded in the world of the future, filled with many familiar attributes of neo-noir cyberdetectives from Brazil and Blade Runner to Special Opinion and Ghost in the Armor - the power of corporations ubiquitous propaganda, almost indistinguishable from advertising, futuristic devices, autopilot vehicles. Considering that the action takes place in 2041, all this is integrated into a world that is quite recognizable to the viewer, which additionally plays into the hands of immersion in the reality of what is happening (for example, the chief of the main character, the chief of police, looks like a greeting from the European police TV shows of the 80s).
The film features good work by the cinematographer and composer of the film, which additionally raises it above the average level. In general, this is, of course, not a hit, but the work is promising in terms of the prospects of a director in the genre of fiction. The picture collected a scattering of "Czech Lions" (the main Czech film award) - cinematographer, editing, sound, artist's work and the audience award.
