From the very first minutes, Haneke invades your mind and arranges a terrorist act there...
I do not even know what other phrase can so perfectly describe the phenomenon of Funny games, if not this excerpt from the Snu4kin review. But Haneke doesn't just arrange a terrorist act, but makes you a direct accomplice to this crime. Even if you know a lot about this movie, even if you've managed to spoil almost everything for yourself, as it turned out for me, you still went and sat down to watch it. You knew what was going to happen, but you continued anyway.
Michael patiently and carefully placed the figures on the playing field, making it clear in advance what kind of movie you turned on, but no, he doesn't judge you and understands everything perfectly, giving you the opportunity to decide for yourself whether to stop watching.
And thanks to you, for 28 years now, the noose of violence has been tightening in one cozy lake house. And every time they remember this movie, it takes a new turn. This is our collective crime.
I've read comments from other platforms and many have written that it's a filth and that only a psycho could pull it off. But I think Haneke did a great job on the contrary. Namely, to dig out the right emotions in us and get a certain reaction. You think one thing, but in the end something completely different happens. After this movie, you're sitting smeared and like, "What the hell is going on here?"
