Overview

Semi-retired Michigan lawyer Paul Biegler takes the case of Army Lt. Manion, who murdered a local innkeeper after his wife claimed that he raped her. Over the course of an extensive trial, Biegler parries with District Attorney Lodwick and out-of-town prosecutor Claude Dancer to set his client free, but his case rests on the victim's mysterious business partner, who's hiding a dark secret.

The theme and genre of the film are not for me, but it wasn't boring. And the acting, directing, psychological disclosure of the characters and the judicial system of those years create an atmosphere of ambiguity and involvement on 10 out of 10.

A curious movie that is difficult to evaluate from the perspective of the present day due to the huge number of outdated views and naive ideas, because it is an excellent embodiment of the era with all its unsightly flaws.
But first of all, this is a good court drama, where, even knowing all the cards, you don't fully believe what the outcome will be. Although in fact, its most important advantage is that there is more chemistry between the prosecutor and the lawyer than between some strong love couples. I'm ready to watch their bickering for another two and a half hours, and I'm not sure I'll get tired of it.
