A still from "Warrior Nun."

At the end of 2022, Netflix announced the closure of the fantasy series "Warrior Nun". The show ran for two seasons, but managed to gain an active fanbase, which launched a campaign to save the project. It worked: in the summer it became known that the series will continue in the form of three feature films.

This was revealed by the executive producer of "Warrior Nun" Dean English, who is now engaged in the development of the trilogy. However, to the surprise of fans, the creator and showrunner of the series Simon Barry was not involved in it. He revealed on social media:

"I am not part of the team producing these movies and I have no writing or directing arrangements."

Also, the project's screenwriter Amy Berg said that she too has not been invited to work on the upcoming movies. Apparently, the sequel to "Warrior Nun" will have a new writing team.

The original series was about a young girl named Ava, who unexpectedly finds herself in the very center of an ancient war between good and evil. She wakes up in a morgue and discovers she has inexplicable abilities. Searching for answers, she learns of the The Order of the Cruciform Sword, a secret society of warrior nuns sworn to protect the world from evil. Now she must balance her new responsibilities as the Chosen One and savior of humanity — and the life of an ordinary teenage girl.

@vk863936:
From an article on Forbes: (google translation)
"The fan campaign to save Warrior Nun was insane. They bought billboards in front of Netflix headquarters. They made charts showing the demand of viewers, trying to prove that Netflix made the wrong choice. They came up with new hashtags so that the series was trending almost every day after the cancellation. I've seen many similar campaigns in my time covering the industry, but it's hard for me to remember one like this. And it... worked. To be honest, I can't believe it."

I read one speculation on the topic that it was Alba's boyfriend who helped - Chris Evans :)
