In the third, teenagers want to prank a teenage neighbor with autism spectrum disorder, but encounter ghosts of the past. By the finale, the stories merge into one.

The basis of the picture was a short film directed by Michael Dougherty "Season's Greetings" (1996), where the character of Sam first appeared. By the way, his name is formed from the name of the Celtic holiday Samhain, which was the forerunner of Halloween.

In the end, the Halloween tale turns out to be true and the witches do come to life, with the villains trying to eat the children.

Almost immediately upon release, the movie gained cult status, becoming something like "Home Alone" for Halloween celebrations for New Year's Eve. Nearly 30 years later, in 2022, a sequel to the movie was released called "Hocus Pocus 2".

Four days before the end of filming actor Michael Massey, who played the role of one of the villains, by ridiculous accident shot Brandon Lee from a prop gun, which turned out to be loaded. The actor died.
