Spouses Kira (Jodi Turner-Smith) and Jake (Colin Farrell) are raising an adopted daughter, Mika (Malea Emma Tjandrawidjaja). The girl has Chinese roots, and her parents buy her a robot named Yang (Justin H. Min) to teach her about Chinese culture, traditions, and history. Later, the robot breaks down: it can't be repaired, but the memory vault can be retrieved. Jake dives into Yang's past and observes both happy family moments and the life of the robot, which he did not even know about.
The movie is based on Alexander Weinstein's short story "Saying Goodbye To Yang". Kogonada's work won the Alfred Sloan Award at the Cannes Film Festival.

This is the fifth part of the franchise, and if you count the crossovers with "Alien" — the seventh. And if the critics were skeptical to the previous parts, "Prey" gathered a lot of positive reviews.
