Jake dives into Yang's past and observes both happy family moments and the life of the robot, which he did not even know about.

The movie is based on Alexander Weinstein's short story "Saying Goodbye To Yang". Kogonada's work won the Alfred Sloan Award at the Cannes Film Festival.
