Donald Glover's remake of "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" will be released February 2, 2024
Amazon Prime Video has announced the premiere date for "Mr. & Mrs. Smith", a remake of the 2005 film of the same name starring Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. All eight episodes of the first season will air on February 2, 2024.
In the center of the plot of this version of "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" will be two lonely strangers who get a job at a spy agency. There they are offered an ideal life: wealth, dream apartments in Manhattan, espionage, and constant traveling around the world. But to get there, they'll have to pretend to be a married couple.
Each week, "John" and "Jane" are sent on risky missions while breaking new ground in their relationship. Things get really messy when they realize that they seem to have truly fallen for each other.
Maya Erskine and Donald Glover play the lead roles in the show. Glover is also co-creating the project with Francesca Sloane, with whom he has previously worked on "Atlanta".

It's a strange feeling, of course they are actors and can play anything and however they want, especially for money, but aesthetics and understanding of some kind must be present.
And so, we are Mr. and Mrs. SMITH, the surname is not anyhow, but rather talking and common.🎬🎥
Glover will not surpass Pitt and Jolie at the start in any way, even more so it will not be possible, because there are so many criteria for participation in film awards that it is difficult to make just a good movie or TV series, and here is a remake. The views won't give him anything.
And I'm not criticizing the viewer, everything has been clear with him for a long time. Previously, he could laugh at a comedy full of blacks, and gays did not cause him the sadness of frustration. And now...decadent attitude and skepticism towards any new project. I see it as boring, I don't understand it.
For every person who laughs at something, there has always been and will be a dissatisfied one. Perhaps you have become more attentive to the diversity of opinions and have begun to notice more dissatisfied people around. This may be a consequence of changes in your own views and perception of the world around you, and transformations in yourself are the most difficult to recognize. Plus, because of the ability to speak freely and the popularity of roast content, it is not always possible to understand, especially in the text, when you are being bantered and when they are really aggressing.
It's not clear just that the criticism has become more negative, and the views are more primitive. Or the criticism was always bad.
Don't think I'm digging in, I'm really interested in understanding, because this idea that actors are not beautiful enough is not only in your comment...
An ardent agenda. It was necessary then to put Mr. Smith in a chair for the sake of appearance
There may be many reasons for a possible failure, but certainly not the appearance and race of the main characters
I don't agree except that it's worth changing the name. What kind of new reading is it then? And they, imho, go with just such a pitch "look, we do it differently. We are NOT Pitt/Jolie".
I don't know why everyone is so burnt. For me, on the contrary, it would be a faded copy if they took super-beautiful actors and they would try to repeat Pitt's chemistry/Jolie. And then something different can happen. 🤷🏻♀️
And what is there to protect? From the original only the name. They're not even killers, they're agents. It's silly to call it a remake. Let's call the 2005 film a remake of the Hitchcock film.
the agenda has certainly been worked out, but what does the role of sex symbols of the 2005's have to do with it? Has Hollywood run out of hot blacks, Asians and other racial and gender identities? Or is it all about acting talent, which I personally do not remember Glover, except for his acting name and the feeling of "departure " on dad's fame?!
