The "Twisted Metal" series has been renewed for a second season
Streaming service Peacock has renewed "Twisted Metal", a series based on the "Twisted Metal" video game, for a second season. The news was revealed by the show's lead actor and Anthony Mackie when the project was unveiled at The Game Awards 2023. The series was nominated in the Best Adaptation category, but the award went to the show "The Last of Us".
In the world of the series, all people live in closed cities, between which stretches a post-apocalyptic wasteland full of danger. Between the cities are shuttling deliverymen, one of whom is John Doe, who suddenly gets a chance for a better life. To do so, he must deliver a mysterious package and not get caught by marauders and other monsters — for example, Sweet Tooth the clown driving an ice cream truck.
Showrunner and screenwriter Michael Jonathan Smith ("Cobra Kai") is producing the project, and he's also producing the series alongside Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (both "Deadpool"). In a statement, Michael Jonathan Smith thanked fans and also announced that John Doe, Sweet Tooth, and Quietus will return in season two.
