The movie is based on the novel of the same name by Jan Costin Wagner. "The Silence" received positive reviews from movie critics: a Rotten Tomatoes the picture has a rating of 87%, and on the site Metacritic the movie has a score of 72 out of 100.

The movie did not win any awards from the Cannes Film Festival jury, but it became the most discussed among critics and was awarded the FIPRESCI prize.

I've watched the best offer several times. I won't say that it's a straight puzzle, but the plot is definitely intriguing and exciting, and overall a great movie, I heartily recommend it to those who haven't seen it
