Michael Peterson (Tom Hardy) was born into a well-to-do family and never needed anything. The movie is based on the real life story of Charles Bronson, who is still serving time. Preparing for filming, Tom Hardy intensely fed, rocked and was able to gain 19 kilograms of muscle mass. The actor even visited the real Bronson in prison, after which he presented Tom his mustache.
