After serving time in prison, the girl is released and tries to pass a competitive screening to get to another Earth and find out how her life and the lives of those around her would have turned out without the tragic accident.
The film was nominated for a Saturn Award for Best Screenplay and Best Actress (Brit Marling), and even before its release, "Another Earth" won the Alfred P. Sloan Award as well as the Sundance Film Festival's Special Jury Prize.
