A still from "New Amsterdam"

David Schulner, the creator of the medical drama "New Amsterdam", is working on a sequel to the project. The series with the working title "New Amsterdam: Tomorrow" will tell about Luna Goodwin — the daughter of Max Goodwin.

The action of the potential sequel will develop 30 years after the finale of the original. In the story, Luna will follow in her father's footsteps and become the head doctor of the New Amsterdam Hospital. The series is expected to explore the role of artificial intelligence in medicine, but no details have been announced yet — the project is in the early stages of development.

In 2022, NBC abruptly shut down "New Amsterdam" after five seasons on the air. The series was about Max Goodwin, the chief physician of New Amsterdam, one of the oldest public hospitals in the United States. Once upon a time, the hospital was one of the best in the country, but in recent years has become mired in bureaucracy. Dr. Goodwin dreams of fixing that, but the staff at New Amsterdam don't have much faith in their boss: they've heard those promises of improvements many times before, but no one has ever followed through on them.

Hooray!!!! A great series (not counting the excesses with the agenda). The musical accompaniment is fantastic, I have not seen this in any medical procedural🥳

@Acritas: well, now is the time that it's time to be surprised at the absence of an agenda in the series, rather than her presence)

the original did not come in, but this one needs to look at how medicine is in 30 years. house doctors are not needed - all diagnoses are made by AI..

New Amsterdam has become one of my favorite TV shows since the first episode! I think I cried every episode of all seasons😅
But here's the sequel.. and even after 30 years . Doubtful, but okay, as they say.
We'll see. I don't think there have been any TV series about medicine of the future yet. But it seems to me that they will shoot as usual, without taking into account any progress. I don't know why it seems that way.

@andreyck: I'm not looking, but what's there? It seems to be about modernity, I once started the first series, but something did not go very far and did not continue to watch

@alesenok: since the previous season, there has been a device for surgeons that tells them how to perform operations. In the beginning, everything was fine, he helped to do such complex operations that even the most experienced surgeons could not cope without him. But over time, the device began to come up with irrelevant complications and actually maimed or killed patients with the hands of surgeons

@andreyck: Wow. Although I think in reality such developments already exist too
