Overview
In 1945, World War II abruptly ended when an alien race appeared on Earth and began to slaughter the human population. The year is 1999 - 54 years later, mankind is still fighting to survive against the alien forces. Earth forces now use advanced mecha called Humanoid Walking Tanks (HWTs) to combat the invaders, but throughout the ordeal, far too many pilots have been killed in action. As a result, high school students are now recruited to become HWT pilots. Gunparade March follows the lives of the 5121st Platoon, who have just added a mysterious girl named Mai Shibamura to their ranks.

In general, this is the case in anime when two cons give quite a plus.
The fur genre is practically not needed here, but it helps to create a weak but stable romance. And the predictability here is good because if the authors had tried to make an unpredictable ending, the series would have turned into non-ironic trash.
Most likely, many people spit from any manifestation of cliches in anime, saying, "Cliches are a priori bad! Everything should be unpredictable!"
On the one hand, yes. This shows how much effort was put into the torments of creativity by the creators, but in fact most of the originality of the approach is harmful, especially when the creators want to make an unexpected ending (Hello to Canvas 2 with its sisterly ending, the author of which I wish to burn in hell). Originality of ideas is the lot of either people who are able to squeeze quality work out of themselves, no matter how risky the ideas are, or pretentious narcissists, of whom 90% are supporters of an exclusively original approach (Statistics are unofficial and not verified, so don't quote me)
In general, what did I want to say? The anime is average and not original in its means, but personally I did not regret the evening spent.
