Overview

In the distant future, earthquakes and the effects of global warming have splintered Japanese society. Some struggle hand-to-mouth in the jungle-tangled ruins of civilization. Some live comfortably within the closed-off city of Atlas. Others lurk online, anonymously hacking the global economy. As nature grows more violent and the divide between classes expands, one spirited girl—Kuniko—must face her destiny and lead her people into the utopia of Atlas. The city's ruthless government isn't going to welcome them with open arms, but Kuniko won't give up until the gates of Atlas are kicked open for good—even if it means discovering that the promised land she dreamed of is built upon a foundation of twisted secrets and lies.

There is something native in Gonzo Studio))) It would seem that all their works are different, but similar at the same time, they seem to be imbued with the Gonzo spirit that permeates all their anime. I started with this studio and watched a lot of their work, so Gonzo for me is always nostalgia. And it's always some kind of plot psychedelic))) Is that what Shangri-la is about? There are several very organized organizations, as usual, that stir up something political and economic, and they stir up excitingly, but they don't really explain anything - what kind of carbon credits are these? How did they bring down the economy so quickly? What's all this for? After all, by and large, these tough economic fights were a series of three. Then the environmental disaster - what is it? That the whole world is covered with trees? That's a good thing! Landscaping! And why does it additionally originate from outer space? In short, in any case, this whole situation is being fixed by a super-transvestite! There are also schoolgirls saving the world, virtual reality, lolly, a tribute to culture, a bit of psychedelic and illogical plot jokes. But what's nice is that in the very end they explain almost everything to us, and they also finish in a normal way. I probably gave such a high rating precisely for the large number of impressions. Well, Murata's drawing is the same)))
