Overview

Adaptation of John Le Carré's novel, following on from the previous BBC adaptation Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. George Smiley returns to the Game. A member of one of George Smiley's old networks seems to have caught on to something big. When he turns up dead the Circus asks George to tie up the loose ends with minimal fuss. But George Smiley does not like loose ends. Especially if they lead to the darkest recesses of the KGB - to Karla, the Sandman.

Continuation of the textbook film adaptation of the classic spy detective "Spy, get out!" It turned out to be a little slimmer and a little more lively, perhaps thanks to another screenwriter and director, Alec Guinness plays much more emotionally and vividly, but, on the whole, everything is in the spirit of John le Carré novels, unhurried and a little boring. Everyday life and routine of special services staff, inconsistency, interdepartmental and intradepartmental games, lack of professionalism of performers, ambitions and personal interests of managers. Moreover, both our own, and allied, and enemy ones. Ridiculously complex and, at the same time, unreliable communication methods, all sorts of beacons, passwords and hiding places. A little kindergarten.

Just like the first part, the series is really interesting because there are a lot of actual documentaries in real places, among real interiors, on the screen fragments of authentic life, with natural factual and material details of the era. It was interesting to see the way of life, the surroundings, the houses and streets of poor Europe, in general, the views of that time, cars, costumes (the same bowler hat - without pathos, in all seriousness!), people, manners, habits, norms of behavior, listen to the language. I enjoyed it, but I don't think I want to review it.
