It's a fucking great show. It looks great even after almost half a century! People in bell-bottoms. )) Very dynamic, the actions of the police and criminals are super smart. Nobody chews snot about their crazies. problems. Recommend.

Jack's slightly confused and hysterical ex, showing us HOW MUCH he loves his work at Sweeney and how he can sacrifice something.
Goodbye, Mrs. Carter, you were a bitch. I hope I won't see you in season 2.

The detectives of the London Police special squad are engaged in an unrelenting battle against notorious criminals, the most daring and dangerous criminals - robbers and robbers. Therefore, police officers have to act boldly and decisively, quickly and inventively, aggressively and harshly, sometimes cruelly and not always completely legally.

A bold plot that destroys the familiar, cozy and glossy image of friendly law enforcement officers. They're realistic cops, with their own weaknesses, flaws, and problems. These police officers drink and suffer from hangovers, can be untidy, rude, and cynical, and can be excessively violent. They don't wear white gloves, but they carry batons and pistols. The stories themselves are not bad, diverse and multifaceted, there are traditional police adventures and collisions, and often some kind of subtext, conflict, controversial situations and contradictory characters.

It was staged and shot very budget-friendly. The installation is very traditional and not very smooth. The episodes and individual scenes differ markedly in tempo and mood. Great dialogues. Good casting. Remarkable types and completely authentic manners, politically incorrect morals, real life, fashion and cars. And shooting with hand-held cameras in the midst of senseless fights only reinforced the illusion of almost documentary reality, creating the impression of some kind of lively spontaneity.

It turned out to be an action-packed police series, innovative at the time, now classic, a bit sad, with entertaining cases, dramatic stories, vivid and ambiguous main characters, wonderful coarse humor, and an absolutely authentic picture.

Language. They speak smartly, vividly and naturally, with different, but not terribly complicated accents and with entertaining slang. Plus, the vocabulary is quite diverse. There are enough jokes, banter, wordplay, and ironic remarks. Even some criminals unexpectedly demonstrate a strong knowledge of English literature, not to mention their wit and non-trivial imagery. It's not easy to understand everything, even with subtitles.
