The world of Aria is a true utopia, an alternative Venice on Mars, inhabited by humans and cats... Is this paradise? One ticket to Aqua, please!
If I was rather skeptical about the first season, then in the second they brought in urban mysticism, began to reveal Neo-Venice in more detail and show its secret streets.
It has its own unique atmosphere, calm music perfectly combined with pastel-colored drawings.
Thank the gods, there are still a few ovals here, although this anime is one of those that you want to stretch out so that it will be remembered for a long time and leave only the best impressions.
And so we find ourselves in an unreal world, incredibly beautiful and very much like Italy. Squares, pavements, boats, lanterns. I've never been to Florence, but thanks to the modern multi-media life, watching anime felt like I was back there.
The graphics are not just beautiful/kawaii, but these Italian views are simply amazing. The characters are just as beautiful and utopian. Yes, in general, all anime is a utopia about a paradisiacal life.
Every new day is similar to the previous one, just as filled with ordinariness, kindness, warmth and can be something new. A new skill in controlling a boat, a new familiar face, a new tone of a huge palette of feelings.
You can't watch this kind of anime with gusto, so the right choice was made – slowly, 2-3 episodes every day in the middle of workdays.
It's as if money, politics, hatred, diseases, and mistakes don't exist in this world. Or maybe it really doesn't exist? After all, it must NOT exist somewhere. Probably in Heaven. Sometimes it seems that all these people are dead and we are shown their life after death. But is it true?
All three seasons run as one, without changing the intended course of the local utopia. The water is still flowing, the gondolas are still floating.
But the third season is overgrown with incredible details, I won't spoil it, but in a nutshell: people have brought the ecology to collapse.
So this anime has three telling similarities to Ghibli.: Kindness, Fabulousness, Ecology. And like Ghibli's films, Aria goes for a masterpiece, except that it's so long and monotonous that you don't want to review it, but it's definitely worth watching.
