The appealing initial story idea of young village cops, who are likable, sympathetic, active, and sometimes make mistakes, worked wonderfully. The first seasons were pleasantly pleased with the sweet and generally kind stories a la Aniskin, quite a variety of colorful events and characters, and a general friendly and positive mood. Then the creators decided to add drama, and they kept adding more and more...
It was installed, removed and mounted very economically (Literally, including. One episode was about 15 times cheaper than the episode of the CSI series on a similar topic that was released at the same time.) and simple. But it looked okay. Successful scenarios, quite entertaining cases, lively, endearing characters with their own weaknesses and shortcomings. The performers had a lot to play - moral dilemmas, difficult personal relationships, harmful bosses, the death of colleagues and loved ones, drama, romance and even comedy, but they, as a rule, did not overdo it and did not fall into either theatrics or clowning. I really liked some of the local views, picturesque and a little exotic.
It turned out to be a good police series with its own muted personality and interesting stories and characters. It is a pity that the original cozy, slightly simple-minded and, if not pastoral, then certainly optimistic mood gradually became less cheerful and more gloomy, harsh and dramatic, sometimes losing both the harmony of the plots and its own originality. However, maintaining originality for 500 episodes is an almost impossible task.
Language. They speak vividly, naturally, sometimes quite quickly, with a variety of local accents and, unaccustomed to it, quite incomprehensibly. In later seasons, the pronunciation features almost did not cause problems, and even the "dense" characters noticeably decreased. All the subtitles I came across were not verbatim.
*The name is the nickname of Australian police officers, especially common in rural areas. This refers to the breed name of the Australian Shepherd "Blue Heeler".
