It's the best thing I've ever seen, and not just in anime. The story of Kenshin and Tomoe ended as it should have, but it could not have been shown or imagined better, more dramatic and tragic than in this OVA. The relatively low rating of this episode on MyShows surprised me very much, even upset me - I hope it will change for the better in the future.
If you watched the 1996 TV series and liked it, then I highly recommend that you do not jump to conclusions after watching the 1st episode of this OVA and watch the other three. Believe me, this anime is more than worthy of being called the backstory of the original Rurouni Kenshin.
@Limon_BezSahara: If there's a manga based on this particular OVA, then I'd love to. I admit, this is the first (and so far the only) anime dedicated to the Bakumatsu period (I am fascinated by the earlier Heian period, especially the rise and fall of the Taira clan), which impressed me, and if you would recommend me a similar manga and/ or anime, I would be very grateful to you.
