Overview
Deemed nouveau riche and shunned by elitist New York society, sisters Nan and Virginia St. George, along with their friends Lizzy Elmsworth and Conchita Closson, try their luck in London. The girls' New World spontaneity and impertinence constitute nothing less than a social invasion of Old World society and they soon find themselves courted by a coterie of fascinated admirers. But as the old and new worlds come to clash, something has to give.

It says everywhere that there are 6 episodes, not 5.
In general, it seemed that the series was one big statement that England with its nobility was hopelessly outdated and out of date. There is not a single more or less positive character with a title in the film. In general, of all men, Guy is the only pleasant one, but he is an obvious symbol of a man who is able to abandon the past and follow the path of progress.
After the measured BBC adaptations - by Austin, Gaskell, Bronte, etc. - the problems here are of a different order, of course. Infidelity, syphilis, abortion - the English classics did not prepare me for this) But although I did not find any characters that I would fully worry about, I still liked the series.
