Overview

Strike Witches is set in an alternate version of 1944, where the events of World War II are very different than what we know to be true. Alien invaders known as the Neuroi came to Earth in 1939. This is not the first appearance of the Neuroi as they have appeared at seemingly random intervals throughout human history. While the Neuroi primarily attack humanity using aircrafts, their mothership is able to produce a deadly miasma, a chemical that is fatally poisonous to humans, forcing the populations of affected areas to flee their homes. The Neuroi then use the poisoned areas to plunder Earth's natural resources to use against humanity. Luckily the miasma cannot spread across water, making the ocean humanity's main line of defense against the Neuroi.

With normal humans unable to fight in the miasma, witches have become the forefront of military defense against the Neuroi. Each witch is able to deploy a defensive field around themselves that not only blocks the miasma but protects them from physical attacks as well. Utilizing leg mounted machines called Striker Units to fly into combat, the witches use their magical abilities to wield devastating weapons too large and ungainly for a normal person. The series follows the battles fought by the 501st Joint Fighter Wing, who battle on the front lines to defend the British Isles from the Neuroi. Will humanity be able to take back Earth and bring peace to their home? Find out in Strike Witches!

There is even less fan service than in the series itself, but my God, what an epic ending! When Yoshika was lying wounded and everyone was flying to her, tears came to my eyes. And when she regained her magic, she couldn't help but sob with delight! And then there's that unearthly epic during the battle...
wow, the Japanese know how to put pressure on feelings!

Damn, why aren't there kisses in this anime where they're NEEDED, huh?

I started watching this anime because in a couple of videos on YouTube, "Assault Witches" were included in the Top 5 or Top 10 of the most explicit and depraved anime in the ecchi genre, so I was waiting for a bunch of depraved fan service. As a result, there was a mountain of pantsu shots, a bit of naked bathing together, and just one kiss, and even that one was drunk... No, well, I don't play like that.

I've had a long road to this fandom. It all started because of the curiosity inspired by Yuri's figurines and inscriptions in genres. I watched Ovashka, then turned on the series, and there.... The Russian voice acting is VERY amateur. I put it on to pump and... safely forgot about the title. Almost a year later, I still remembered and I liked it! In general, the idea is very interesting, at least for me: there is a war going on with the Neroi angels, the Eva storm witches are trying to destroy them using weapons and magic, all equipped with cute armor and ears with tails. Everything is very supposedly serious and at the same time unobtrusive and sweet. The first 2 episodes even go almost without echia, well-staged military actions, as much as possible with the presence of kawaii girls and echia, but then the plot is too often diluted with how they wash and sleep. I also downloaded it uncensored, stupid, and I watched it on the bus and in pairs, so I had to actively swear, but judging by the fan services I saw, I didn't lose much, and they didn't do it for me. It's funny that anime that doesn't bother much tried to convey the era of the 40s last year, and their attempts seemed interesting and very successful to me. The last 2 episodes echo the spirit of the first two: They're showing a serious and interesting plot again. This suggests the following thoughts: there was not enough manga, they decided to cut down the dough with punches, releasing 6 discs of 2 episodes each, when there is only sense in 2 discs =X The second season follows all the traditions of the first: the plot is tied for two episodes, then there are trinkets with washrooms and bedrooms. Bottom line: beautifully fun and boring. If you don't tap on the sides and chest/underpants, then there's no point in turning it on at all.

A touching episode. And they came up with a good idea to fly a rocket.
