It's one of the best romantic anime series I've ever seen. At the time of writing this comment, I had already watched both seasons, and I gave my 5 stars when watching about 7 episodes of season 1, although I very rarely rate anime without watching it to the end.
However, in this case, everything was clear to me even then. And it's not about the maids (I'm not one of those people who watches anime for the sake of girls in white aprons and black dresses), and it's not about the location (although London at the end of the 19th century is shown perfectly here) - it's just a really beautiful and romantic story with vivid characters and high quality of execution.
The drawing is great - I enjoyed every second of watching it. If the drawing of "Emma" seemed to you to be of insufficient quality for an anime series, then you are a rare gourmet!
The music is wonderful - it highlights the overall Victorian spirit of the series and sets up the emotions that the viewer should feel when watching. Yes, she's an addition to the voice acting and on-screen acting, but that's not a negative at all.
I would like to mention the work of the voice actor separately - the characters seem to be alive, their laughter and sobs disturb the viewer's soul, the dialogues are filled with emotions, and there is no excess of feelings that has become so common in anime - shouting, tearfulness, etc.
I want to say a few words about the characters - they are amazing! The talent of Mori Kaoru (and she is an English-speaking mangaka with experience), combined with the excellent work of Studio Pierrot staff, gave us characters that will be remembered for a long time - Emma, William, Mrs. Kelly Stoner, Hakim, Eleanor... It makes no sense to list them all - each character perfectly plays his role in the plot and causes a lot of emotions.
To summarize, I will say the following: not everyone will like this series, but those who love romance in anime and at one time read Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights will definitely appreciate Emma, she is worth every minute of time spent on it.

What is William doing? Seriously?! "I love someone else, but okay, I have to get married." What kind of nonsense is this? In the first season, he was kind of a slob, in this he became an outright henpecked and bent under the system. What the hell?!

I read manga. She's amazing! Very warm feelings after reading it. I didn't know there was an anime.

one of the best romantic anime, I wanted to prolong the viewing. adult romance, drama without overplayed tragedy, and, of course, attractive characters. I recommend.

By the way, this is the first time when I couldn't meet the limit of 2000 characters! I apologize for such a long comment - I squeezed out the emotions of watching it as best I could, but it didn't work out. Well, it happens to everyone - for the sake of emotions and impressions, we watch TV shows, right?
