Glenda Jackson is the main star of this series, she may not be very convincing as a young Elizabeth, but she's incredibly good as an aging queen. It's interesting to listen to her and it's interesting to watch her, it's not for nothing that she won an Emmy Award for this role. But I would consider the disadvantages to be that the series is completely built on dialogues and by the end it starts to get a little boring, I want at least some action. It's also worth noting that this is one of the few film adaptations that don't focus on Elizabeth's favorites. They are there, but they perform exactly the role they should, no more, no less.

At the time of filming, Glenda Jackson, who plays the role of Elizabeth, was already well over thirty, and this is very striking. Neither in appearance, nor in voice, nor in character does she look like a twenty-year-old girl. Although, of course, she plays very well.
