British detective Max Drummond has been seconded to Sydney to monitor on the spot the investigation into the death of a young woman, the daughter of the British Minister of Commerce, which is being conducted by an Australian police unit. It soon becomes clear that the woman found in the harbor did not drown, and the cause of death was not an accident at all, a murder occurred and an obvious attempt was made to deliberately cover her tracks.

For the first time, the ambitious and slightly complex Sergeant Meg Driscoll, who heads the investigation, is not at all happy about the uninvited Varangian from London and does not particularly hide her displeasure. However, the official conflicts between locals and outsiders, as well as some cultural or linguistic differences, are noticeable, but not the main themes of the series and not the main difficulty in solving this complicated case with unclear motives, inconsistencies in testimony, suspicious defendants and, most importantly, affecting very serious political and business interests.

It was simply installed, removed and mounted without empty notebooks. They play average. To the abundance of all kinds of cliches in the script are added rather stereotypical characters, including the main characters. The "foreigner" theme is well used, there are successful jokes on other topics, but there are also some forced dialogues. The action is appropriately decorated with recognizable Sydney views.

It turned out to be not the most realistic or original detective drama with a slightly hackneyed plot, but with a rather fascinating intrigue, with slightly far-fetched events and noticeably formulaic characters, but with an interesting main character, with an unexpected twist in the finale and an entertaining little vignette just before the credits.

Language. They speak in a wide variety of ways, according to the origin and background of various characters. They weren't very dense, and there were no problems with understanding, especially since they usually didn't speak too quickly and, although not always perfectly correctly, they were intelligible and without abstruse vocabulary. Subtitles are optional.
