Overview
Lord of the Flies tells the story of a group of young boys who find themselves stranded on a tropical island.
In an attempt to remain civil, the boys organise themselves, led by Ralph and supported by the group's intellectual, Piggy. But Jack, who is in charge of signal fire duty, is more interested in hunting and vying for leadership and begins to draw other boys away from the order of the group and ultimately from hope to tragedy.

I haven't read the book, but the first episode is cool. Everything is very colorful) Kids are generally cool, they play great. Piggy ♥️
But perhaps Simon's story is the biggest failure and disappointment, and there is a huge part of the deep philosophical meaning of the work in its opposition. And here he is a completely minor character-a stickler with a sad story who was accidentally killed in a zombie state of ritual dancing. This death is literally a point of no return, not a random occurrence in the dark.
The canon clearly shows by Simon's death that this is not entirely true, they were blinded by rage and simply did not want to see who was in front of them, they did not stop, even when it was possible (for them). And Ralph is also not a white and fluffy child who just stood aside and could not cope with the savagery of the others, he braved the same ritual dance of the savages and also began to degrade. Only the realization of the group's purposeful brutality swung his personal scales towards morality, shame, and guilt. He gravitated towards the good, the right, the bright, but he also succumbed to darkness. And that's exactly what the 3 series hasn't revealed yet, but has made him a flat positive character.
It's very sad that they downplayed the role of Simon's only brave boy, didn't show his conversation with Lord of the Flies very clearly (although the episode itself was stunningly shot) and completely whitewashed Ralph.
The actor playing Simon is brilliant. All the kids play great, but his game stuck with me. Huge eyes that managed to convey without words so much about real courage, about mutual help, about sacrifice, about sincerity.
Let's see how they can show us that the beast is in every boy without exception.
I reread the book the other day just in time for the release of the series, and my impressions of the first episode are still 50/50
First of all, I don't really like some of the changes in the characters' characters - the series seems to have a more pronounced division into this one is bad and these are good, after all, everyone in the book had their own flaws and Ralph wasn't as nice to Piggy as they show here))
Secondly, I didn't like the moment with Piggy's name, according to the book this is not canon and we will never know what his real name is - it seems to me that the author also laid a certain meaning in this detail, but here it was decided to omit it for the sake of "whitewashing" (no matter how ironic it is not It sounded like the image of Ralph
From the good side, Locks Pratt, who plays Jack, fits the role perfectly, and I think he will succeed with Draco Malfoy))
I also like that Simon is revealed here in a better way and is not deprived of his screen time along with the rest of the main three, otherwise I didn't have enough of him as a character in the book.
Separately, I would like to note that the actors are well-chosen, although the appearance of Ralph and Jack is not canon, but this does not interfere much with my personal perception.
In general, the beginning looks interesting, if not for the manner of shooting, which makes you feel sick, everything would be even better))
Child actors are beyond praise.
I would recommend it for viewing, but I won't review it.
I liked Piggy (Nicholas) from the very first minutes. There was a funny moment when he slowly took off his clothes to swim. I thought that kid wouldn't wait for him, hehe.
In general, he is very smart, kind and sweet — as for me, the perfect leader.
The ending, of course, is expected. Kids build a campfire — what could go wrong? 😁
