I really like the main character and her team. It's only the second episode, and I've already become familiar with them. Brenda Blethyn, who plays the role of Vera, is familiar to me only from the film "Pride and Prejudice" (Mrs. Bennet), and, I must say, she plays just fine. These two roles are just opposites, and she handled them brilliantly. By the way, Vera is a great character, she's a cool detective and a good boss, she's great, but she's not some kind of "special script." She does not have a special method of deduction, she does not walk with a cane, does not say that everything is connected, did not mock the murderers, speaking on TV. She is a non-suffering character with a huge secret. Even if this is discovered later, the investigation will still remain at the center of the narrative. Faith is "beaten by life" just like many people, by ordinary, boring things - loneliness, hard work, people, childhood... She is a good main character because she may not be perfect, but she does her job very well. And also, as in any strong personality, she has some special charm.
