It's a wonderful series. Very wise and necessary!!! Well shot. The first episodes were shocking. The level of medicine at that time, dirt, poverty, lack of antibiotics, anesthesia, staff were forbidden to have relationships (unlike in Private practice), and nurses were forbidden to marry at all. This is how dedicated you need to be to your profession in order to fully devote your life to medicine. It was very realistically shot, sometimes it even seemed too much. But it's also addictive.
If anyone is interested in such a topic, then look at: "Knickerbocker Hospital" (eng. The Knick). "Call the Midwife" (English: Call the Midwife, in Russian there is a variant "Call the midwife")
