I've been putting off watching this series for a long time...but now his time has come... the first distinctive feature is paints...more precisely, their absence...all gray, monotonous, winter northern sky, thick fog....there is some charm in this ... the main characters are intriguing...I will be happy to watch their development ... The plot is also curious and it is interesting to find out who, what, how, when and why) Have a nice viewing to everyone!
An excellent series, in which everything is fine: the acting, the plot, and the implementation; even the pace of the narration contributes to the creation of the right atmosphere. And Sofia Helin is just amazing, absolutely gorgeous. 10 out of 10!
I will describe here brief impressions of all three seasons of this gorgeous series. Without spoilers, of course.
I love Stieg Larsson's books, I like Swedish/Norwegian cinema. And in general, I am extremely attracted to the aesthetics of modern Scandinavia.
If you, like me, are tired of the dominance of endless comic book adaptations and other toothless films / series, there you are most likely at the address.
There is everything here: A joyless atmosphere, an interesting and moderately confusing plot. The most colorful characters in the form of detective Martin Ore, who embodies all the kindest and most humane and the Nuren Saga, which is completely detached from society.
Separately, I would like to praise the finales of all three seasons. Every time, I just couldn't believe that the outcome would turn out exactly like this. Most Americans cannot boast of such bold decisions.
The only "But" of the series is that it is a little difficult to "enter" it. At first, it is difficult to remember unusual names and names of urban areas by ear.
I liked the series so much that I watched it for five hour episodes a day.
P.S. I really remember the title soundtrack of Choir of Young Believers - Hollow Talk. Be sure to listen.
@PROXOR23: Thank you for your feedback, because I decided to watch this series, but even in the first half of the series I got bored and knocked out, but something in me made me come here and read the comments, which I did, and your impression of the whole series made me watch the first series in full, and I still I didn't regret it, at least not yet.
There were only two things that interested me about the pilot. When they found out that there was more than one girl there, and the last five minutes when they were messing with the car. The rest is not yet clear and not very exciting, but I will watch.
Is it clear what is happening in the pilot, no. Nothing is clear. But the atmosphere itself is amazing. Although I admit that many may not like it. I love Scandinavian writers, and that kind of atmosphere. I also really like the color scheme, adds atmosphere.
As for the heroes, it is not yet clear how they are all connected with each other?
I started watching the series after watching our remake of the first season of iiiiiii.... He's just gorgeous!!! This is really the best detective story of the last year. Everything is in moderation, and love and the main characters are so ordinary, it seems that from the next door, well, the plot is generally bombastic. It may seem a little dull at first, for us who are accustomed to action and picture, but the more you immerse yourself with each season, the more you relish watching. I watched the last episode of the fourth season already with a sad ending note. I recommend it to all fans of the detective genre, not standard situations and not boring actors
The atmosphere covers almost immediately and with my head, and in fact, I expected much more detachment from my northern friends, but emotions are boiling here worse than in the most dramatic dramas. And it's very catchy.
The Noren saga literally penetrates into the head from the first seconds, and stays there for a long time. A very solid, very vivid image of a person with obvious psychological abnormalities, take at least her straightforwardness and complete lack of empathy, although this is not directly stated. And at the same time, some truly childish righteousness and naivety make her even funnier, especially at the moment when she wonders what she did wrong by informing on a colleague, and this same straightforwardness allows her to strangely help a journalist in his seemingly last moments of life. The maximum set to instantly become my favorite character. Martin perfectly complements her: earthy, simple, good-natured, with a physiological disadvantage against his will, but a real professional is clearly hiding behind all this, and it becomes clear almost immediately that the image of a cute bear is only partially true. What are the other two plots related to: a wealthy married couple, where the wife is so desperately fighting for the life of her husband, who is on the verge of death; and a savior (is it a savior?) I don't even have a clue about a poor girl with children from a tyrant husband, although I have some guesses. Perhaps the last line even passes in another time period, but again, this is just a version. But the most important thing is that all these stories are interesting to look at on a par with a murder investigation, and I consider this to be true skill.
Perhaps the fact is that at one time I went through both popular detective novels, a la "Sherlock" and "True Detective", as well as the more local "Broadchurch", but I was captured absolutely immediately. There was a constant feeling that I had already seen all this, but not quite, and it somehow became even cozy, or something.
@chch93: Muted tones, unhurried and at the same time harsh music, while absolutely unclear transitions from one line to another, and at the same time a fairly smooth narrative itself, which hides a whole flurry of feelings - the Swedish-Danish production gives the series its own special, slightly frozen, and at the same time heartbreaking charm.
Everyone is commenting on the series here. I only watched the first episode. At first glance, it's hard to look at. All women look the same. The victim and Saga and Veronica. They are all blondes with the same faces. I often get confused at the bottom, maybe it's about the victim, what happened to her before the murder. Then you realize that this woman can hardly be a politician. But outwardly very similar. All the actors do not cause any feelings, except for Ore. The journalist who was shoved into the car was initially infuriating. I don't know why, but I didn't feel sympathy for him. But the plot is certainly addictive. It's been a long time since I've clung to a series like this.
I didn't think much about people who say they don't distinguish Asians in movies from each other... Until I got into the same situation with blondes in this series))) Well, at least they got different hairstyles, by God! I barely made it through this episode, I was already thinking of quitting, but the moment when Veronica was taken to a house in the outback for some reason intrigued me. And it's nice to see "Konstantin") So I'll keep looking.
for all those who came here before watching the series and, like me, read the comments and are afraid to confuse the characters. Saga and Veronica are two different girls (they have different voices, characters and locations). But those who do not know this in advance may indeed confuse and think that the second storyline is some kind of flashback about the Saga. But no. For those who still can't tell them apart: Saga (detective) has a scar above his lip 😉
As a bae, I didn't quite understand why in the end it was impossible to knock out the driver's window to hell, there were no wires there, and the sappers in general were firing, we'll wave a pen and get out😨🔫🤷🏽♀️ There are a lot of storylines and a lot of questions, as long as there are answers, and not just pictures🤞🏽
Quite an interesting start. True, for about half of the series everything looked boring, but otherwise the plot is intriguing, I want to look further. And how much it differs in the picture from most TV shows, I don't even know if it's good or bad, but everything is so faded, there are no saturated colors here, solid grayness, this has its own charm. And it was interesting to observe the comparison of the Swedish and Danish police, it is banal even in the behavior of the police that the Swedish are more collected, many are ready to work at night, and the Danes sleep peacefully, do not touch anyone. I feel that this difference of mentality will be shown to us more than once.

The first thing that fascinates: how casually the Scandinavians speak and show "below the belt".
