One day, I shall come back. Yes, I shall come back. Until then, there must be no regrets, no tears, no anxieties. Just go forward in all your beliefs, and prove to me I am not mistaken in mine. (c) The First Doctor
I can't help but think that's exactly what happened. Truly, there is nothing that hits harder than such a truth. The Doctor had different episodes, including very strong and deeply emotionally colored ones. But none of them left me in a more confused state, when it was both very good and very bad.
Even after Doctor Who Live: The Next Doctor (s07 special-17), I couldn't stop thinking about how Matt Smith looked away during his "message" to the next doctor. Here, this bad feeling of a strained smile was highlighted with a bright spotlight and shown under a microscope.
If someone is used to the special series in the form of short-length bonuses, or to boring retellings of the "movie about the movie" genre, then do not accidentally miss this miracle in the general mass.
But if something had gone wrong then.... THERE WOULD BE NO Doctor! This episode is a very good way to express gratitude to everyone who participated and is taking part in the creation of the series. Thank you for our wonderful Doctor!!!
I didn't cry like that, even when Tennant left, but Moffat, as usual, makes the holidays unforgettable. Bright memory of Verity, the embodiment of March 8 - strong, purposeful, confident, ready to stand her ground and go to the bitter end, who became a legend and created a legend. She's just beautiful) And Tereshkova at the very beginning, wow, how nice ^v^ And how it hurts for William. It's scary to imagine what it's like to grow old, become useless and incapable of anything, without even noticing it. And to lose everything you love, just because you're "worn out." It's a great story. To favorites, to gold, and so on. At least look for the disc.
@YERU_STRAUS: What does Moffat have to do with it? The main (and only) screenwriter of this series is Mark Gatiss. Moffat can only be involved there as a producer.
@Expelliarmuss: Given that he approves the ideas and scripts, approving this episode is his decision, for which I am grateful. But you're right, Geitissa (I'm writing the pronunciation, not bantering, if anything) I shouldn't have mentioned it, thank you)
It's too wonderful a series. And the most important thing was not to miss it among a couple of minute videos. The whole movie you're stretched like a string, just to the limit. And even though the doctor had already been filmed, it still gave the impression that at any moment something could go wrong and everything would collapse.Unbelievably
I couldn't resist writing a comment right during the viewing. It's fantastic! A great professional! You immediately get into the tension that reigns in the studio. There is a desire to review all the great many episodes of Doctor Who. As mentioned above, then a lot depended on Verity, if she hadn't been so assertive, there would not have been such a wonderful and magnificent series with such a long history) And the creation of the Daleks? Back then, no one even took them seriously. Who would have thought that they have been pleasing the audience for more than 50 years? I am very pleased that their design has not changed much. The dialogue is especially fun: - What is this? - A monster, for the next episode. - With a plunger and a whisk?Well, if they don't take over the universe, at least they'll make a decent omelet.
I really got high from the movie too. It's just great! The only thing I didn't like was the actor who played Patrick (the second doctor).. It doesn't look like it at all. Even Barbara and Ian were found and made super similar.
I've been thinking about an alternative ending for a long time. The moment where William says, "I don't want to leave!" very powerful and heartbreaking. But I would have finished the film differently. At the moment where William is sitting in the car and a policeman recognizes him. There, after talking to the policeman, it would be great if William drove to the police box, got out of the car, went into the booth - and the booth would disappear. Of course, this is a more fantastic ending and it is naturally more "pleasant" than reality. But it would be more correct to let Hartnell leave, precisely as a Doctor.
A wonderful film, very touching! From the middle, I was in goosebumps and very mixed feelings. How the series made its way through the circumstances, came to success, and how the first Doctor didn't want to leave the project, God... And also this technique with the introduction of the Eleventh, I'm sitting in tears. Thanks to these people for coming up with such a thing for television, and even for children, and being able to raise it to such a level.
By the way, please do not confuse, this is not a special episode, but a full-length television film "Adventure in Space and Time", released for the 50th anniversary of the series.
Now I'm definitely going to watch the classics. A great special episode!!! And the moment with the 11th doctor just killed me. She burst into tears on him.
I can't stop crying.

Thanks to the BBC for 50+ years of wonderful history =)

Just sobbing.

But in the end it would be cooler if all the doctors showed up, not just the eleventh one. It would be spectacular
Watching Sasha Davan direct The Doctor after season 12 is too wonderful. Doctor Who level meta-irony.
