Ooh... I like it more and more with each episode. The only negative is the main character's love line. This girl is just not a fish, not meat.
Olivia is another matter. How she beat up a vampire! I would really like to know her story.
Let's hope that the next series will remain on the same level.

@NikaKowalewicz: I agree with you. Although I'm starting to suspect that the girl is not so ordinary. Suddenly, the "true path" is quite villainous and demonic? Is such a family sitting there, blurring the line between worlds, and no one suspects? Or vice versa, hidden angels?))

and I don't understand, did she bring this demon with her, to her house?Or is she just having glitches?
I will be glad if they show Olivia's story, why does she have so many secrets and weapons?) Is she a killer?

I really don't like it when vampires are shown to be so weak. They're supposed to be super-fast, super-strong lords of the night, and every fool throws them around in bundles. It's not interesting...

@shiroisasori: Hmm... and how many fools are there? The medium accidentally failed, and Olivia is a dark horse. She's really cool, why don't the vampires tell on her? At the same time, vampires, as a rule, do not take people seriously - but in vain!

@Gordey: A dark horse is a dark horse, but it doesn't have supernatural speed (I don't know about strength). And it wasn't by chance that Malcolm failed in the end. Why did the vampire let that toothpick get inside him?
Or take that scene in the car, where a vampire was stabbed through an open window with a blunt piece of wood through his heart. Stupidly.
And ultraviolet is generally some kind of cheating. If vampires can be destroyed with a fluorescent lamp, then why are such vampires needed at all?
The fact that vampires don't take people seriously if they're so easily killed by anyone is also stupid and uninteresting.

@shiroisasori: The vampires relaxed - no one had resisted them for a long time, so he reacted to the pencil like that, with a laugh, and then pure luck! But that's often the case in TV shows, otherwise everyone would be living with vampires now, like in Van Helsing.
Olivia Fig knows what she has, to be honest - she may be able to accelerate, not like vampires, but for a shorter period of time - it's not clear yet.
He didn't expect to be in the car at all, it's easy - such things are shown in all movies.
Well, ultraviolet light is not exactly ultraviolet, it was some kind of trick stone! It is possible that it was created specifically against vampires.
I don't know, I don't know.. Being an invincible predator with super strength and super speed, I would also spit down on others. As a result, as Papa Leo used to say, "Don't say you're strong, you'll meet a stronger one."
And so yes - you can get to the pole, and there are enough joints in the series. However, the action is dynamic, the plot is interesting, and so far there are no stupid logical jambs (well, compared to other TV series). Although it's all for an amateur, I admit.

@shiroisasori: In "From Dusk till Dawn" there were also very dead ones - they made their way with their hand. Vampires are the dead, and the dead rot and wither. They are the appearance of a human, and therefore it is quite possible that their bodies are weak and feeble - why not? In general, there are different types of vampires in the stock - it's worth listing :) Sapkovsky has only three types mentioned!

@shiroisasori: Yes, to anyone! A vampire is scary not because of his super speed and mega strength, but because he drinks blood. And we need to compensate somehow, otherwise people have no chance at all. What can a person do against an immortal, super-powerful being? What the hell! So they come up with different weaknesses and vulnerabilities. Otherwise, vampires have come to the city - there is no more city. They spent the day, and at night they destroyed the second city and so on until they destroyed everything. Who cares about vampires like that?!

@shiroisasori: You have the mindset of a pussy gamer. I'm interested in psychology and behavior in vampires, they are an explosive mixture of the human mind and feelings with an instinctive supernatural thirst. The history of this phenomenon is interesting. In most cultures, the sun is associated with life, and the opportunity to be reborn / ascend / reunite with one's god / gods / ancestors is considered the highest reward, and the deprivation of these benefits is a cruel curse, in this context it is worth considering vampirism, and certainly not as a set of superpowers with small vulnerabilities for gameplay balance.

@AnarchyFreak: So I'm interested in the psychology and behavior of vampires in the first place (ignoring the strange remark about reunions with the gods, I don't know where you got this from). But for that, vampires have to be vampires, not dumb cannon fodder like in this episode. The only reason they're so weak and helpless here is to give the heroes the opportunity to kill more brainless monsters, worse than in a computer game. So about the "mindset of a gamer-writer" not to me, but to the authors of the series.

@Gordey: They'll agree. If you have a large insect in a movie, then it must be strong, fast and dangerous, so the characters should consider it luck that they survived at all. Those who survived, of course. If your large insect can be safely killed with a slipper, then you don't have a movie at all.
It's the same with vampires.

@shiroisasori: As a rule, insects need to take down the queen and they all fall off their hooves at once. This is their most vulnerable point. It happens to vampires too (for example, "Fright Night") - you knock the eldest down and the rest either turn back into humans or die. Here we decided to follow an even simpler path - sunlight. Yes, the vampires could have escaped, but they stopped. Yes, this is a jamb of the series, but it's not that great, to be honest.

@shiroisasori: the remark came from the fact that the main function of the curse is to make the damned feel bad, and vampirism is a curse, so they are not immortal supervillains, but creatures cursed for eternal life, overcome by thirst for blood. you see them as monsters by default, but I see damned people who decided to be monsters by ignoring morality, and this is confirmed by Lemuel, who took and did not give up on his humanity.

I can't argue why this nest of vampires is so easily set up, maybe there are plot holes, maybe they're really relaxed, or maybe they're really slower and weaker than True Blood vampires, etc., but to say that all vampires in all fandoms should be strong as demigods doesn't make sense to me.
shiroisasori
shiroisasori
11 Aug 2017, 12:47 #
@AnarchyFreak: I think that among human fears, "the impossibility of reuniting with the gods" has a very small part, and "cursed for eternal life" sounds like "cursed for a lot of money and success with women \men." Show me a man who wants to grow old, decrepit, and die. The loss of humanity is a much more frequent and interesting topic, although rarely properly disclosed. How is it here: "I'm a mean little vampire, I want to kill people, just like that, because I'm mean"; "And I'm a pretty little vampire, I don't want to kill people, just like that, because I'm pretty." Primitive.
And I want vampires to be more or less strong (or at least match their stated abilities) for a simple reason. A weak vampire won't have an interesting story, he'll hardly be a character at all. What kind of curse "for eternal life" can we talk about if a vampire cannot live for at least a hundred years without being stabbed? One can talk about the loss of morality and humanity only if vampirism makes a vampire dangerous to people, if his strength and abilities alienate him from humanity. If a vampire is worried about his own skin every day, then he will no longer be interested in any special philosophical thoughts. What kind of humanity is there, you wouldn't die from an ordinary splinter. A vampire like that is just a target for some vampire hunter, nothing more.
Even here, in order for Lemuel to remain an interesting character, additional abilities were thrown at him, just so that he could be taken seriously as a vampire.
AnarchyFreak
AnarchyFreak
11 Aug 2017, 18:45 #
@shiroisasori: in your opinion, it turns out that it is impossible for a person to be a human being, because he spends all his time trying to shake his skin, and philosophy probably wasn't invented by a person? and don't overdo it about the splinters, it looks childish, we were shown that only the same vampire and a lady with cool combat training, Ala Buffy, can butt heads with vampires on equal terms, the rest somehow killed vampires by luck, besides, vampires hardly expected that the locals would stir up a vandervafl that would roast with sunlight.
you can always talk about the loss of morality and humanity, even when it comes to ordinary people, you are probably not familiar with this concept, since you think that humanity can only be lost by turning into a super-strong monster from legends. and where is the philosophy here, when only the fact of turning into a peer makes him like that? is it primitive to give half a series to show that a conditional "monster" has free will? that his actions are not the result of his supernatural nature, but independent decisions? seriousness, depth of perception and philosophy are not directly proportional to the coefficient of strength, these concepts are not related at all, otherwise how to explain that the most terrible monsters are people like Dahmer, Chikatilo, Manson and others, or if we are talking about fictional characters, then Hannibal Lecter, Norman Bates and others.
It's primitive to think that a character doesn't need an interesting story, character, and worldview to be cool, but some kind of superpowers.
shiroisasori

11 Aug 2017, 19:35 #
@AnarchyFreak: Well, a weak vampire wouldn't have an interesting story, character, or worldview. They'll just score it in a couple of seconds. "By luck," yeah. The fact that they could theoretically write a ten-volume philosophical treatise on the essence of being does not change anything - they are needed only as meat for the narrative. We are not talking about real people, but about the characters in the story and how they are used in this story.
The fact that "a conditional monster has free will" was given not half a series, but a couple of minutes, at most. And it all lies stupidly in the fact that one is bad and the other is good. Why is this so, why, and what are the reasons for this? Nothing is explained, you just have to take it for granted. Don't talk about free will here...
and if your vampire isn't stronger than a human, then there's no point in making that character a vampire at all. The only point of making a character a vampire is to give him power beyond an ordinary person. Well, or, as here, make vampires dumb monsters that can be killed purely "by luck" to show how cool the main character is. And the second option is not very interesting to me.

@shiroisasori: >>Well, a weak vampire will not have an interesting story, character and worldviews.<
Who even told you that? the story of a non-super-imbued Persian is much more interesting precisely because the viewer wonders how this Persian lived throughout history, what roads and where they led him, what during this time he learned from the lessons of life, what he overcame.

And everything lies stupidly in the fact that one is bad and the other is good. <
good, bad, evil, what are the cardboard criteria? Was Lemuel that kind to his former masters? He just forgave and forgot. Didn't you just call this character a good one? If you're justifying lynching, maybe you are. and is his creator so terrible that he gave him, as you put it, a curse for "a lot of money and success with women/men"?

@AnarchyFreak: The viewer wonders how this Persian lived throughout history, what roads and where they led him, what he learned from life lessons during this time, what he overcame.
It's just for the more or less powerful that such questions can be asked. And there's only one question for the helpless bipod: how is she not dead yet? Please note that in all the works devoted to the life and trials of vampires (and not hunters of them), they are incomparably stronger than humans. This is far from accidental. In order for a vampire to walk the roads and learn the lessons of life, he must live, and not tremble under every bush. And it's certainly not stupid to die, which is the sole role of the visiting vampires in this series.
gt; what are the cardboard criteria
We were not provided with others in the series, and motivation beyond "this one is good and this one is bad" was not disclosed in any way. Is that why he wants to kill? Well, he just wants to. Why did he feel sorry for the girl? Well, I just regretted it. There's no psychology, philosophy, or depth here... There's only one laugh.

It's too childish. The series resembles a bad retelling. Well, where without pretentious phrases. I'm also curious about how people react to the supernatural in this series. This is the first time a person learns about vampires (and the plot assumes that he didn't believe in them before) - well, OK, whatever, you'll think, which doesn't happen in life. In the last episode, the cops listened to the medium seriously, as if it were the most common thing, and then did not believe in the supernatural that happened before their eyes. And also the senseless pathetic lines of the characters...
