I have not read Brown's books and am familiar with his work only thanks to previous film adaptations with Hanks. The first episode came out with high quality, Zuckerman got used to the role very well. I wonder how many tubes of foundation (and time!) it took to disguise the tattoos of the antagonist)). I watched all the film adaptations with Hank and read all the books.
Dan Brown writes, of course, tricky with all the clutter of symbolism, but interesting.

@vbkb: they were going to make a movie, but then Inferno came out and rushed to film it, it's written about it in the wiki. The lost symbol is considered (and in my opinion, too, I even read it twice on purpose, but again I don't remember what the book is about) the weakest of the Langdon books.

@ElllaDee: I totally agree! I became interested in Brown at the age of 14, having read Angels and Demons, and since then I have been waiting for the release of every book. Although in my opinion, the Origin is a little weak compared to the others.
But really, of the Lost Symbol, I only remember the antagonist who tortured himself.
Therefore, I support the opinion that the most boring book in the whole series.

I love Dan Brown's books, but the latest film adaptations leave much to be desired. Here, Peter's 50-year-old sister Catherine was turned into his young daughter for some reason... Apparently, to bring her together with the same young Langdon) Sato is quite pretty, without throat problems) But overall it's nice to watch. Judging by the added episodes, the timing is being stretched, probably there will still be more than three episodes.

And that was just WOW. A gun. I love Brown and Hanks movies, it's love, except Inferno, sorry. I waited for the series with special caution, I was afraid of trash, but damn, bow to the showrunners for their courage and quality. It was shot awesome, the intensity was preserved, the atmosphere of Dan's books, a juicy picture, even small details are in place, and the music wonderfully complements, and it's nice that you didn't skimp on the budget. It's like watching a movie, and it's just a pilot! Definitely one of the best new products of this year and overall one of Peacock's coolest projects. It's even a pity that we have to wait for an episode a week now, but it's really worth it. I take deviations from the book absolutely calmly, on the contrary, I am the kind of viewer who even likes when there is an element of unpredictability and the creators add something of their own so as not to repeat the book word for word. So far, there is a solid 5% for the start, I hope that the bar will only be raised further!

I can't say that I'm in any kind of ecstasy. I love Brown's books and when I saw that there would be a series, I immediately prepared myself that there would be fuzziness.
I've been reading the book for a long time, but even without remembering all the details, there are things that catch my eye terribly and are a little disappointing. But! Even despite this, it was shot very well. The actors were picked up perfectly, we will see what happens next

In Brown's film adaptations, the main advantage is that you don't read the author's entire language (at first I thought the translations were like that, but no, the original is just as poor), where he doesn't hesitate to copy entire paragraphs from book to book, just changing titles and names. The scenario is normal, the communication of the characters does not make the debilometer go off scale. Atmospheric, the picture is high-quality and juicy, the actor unexpectedly liked him, I had never met him before, he fits perfectly into the role. A good average guy, you can watch.

Well, I can't really say anything yet, because the pilot didn't catch on. But I didn't like the book either, so if I can separate myself from it and perceive the series as an independent work, it will be better.
7 episodes on this topic is a bit much, but I hope that it will really be 7 episodes, and not 7 more episodes later.
There are too many questions about Malakh, about his personality. It looks like he's not going to be who he was in the book.
I will definitely finish the season, but so far 3/5

Langdon, after the film adaptation of Hanks, seems like such a sucker with long eyelashes, but still the same smart pain in the ass. And I also really liked the character of Nunez, the guard, who breathed out nervously when he was shown alive after the shot.

After the first film adaptation, I stopped watching movies. You can throw stones at me, but you didn't come in with Hanks either.

@juzzt: I didn't get in with Hanks either, not the type and energy at all. Here is the other extreme - the actor is too young and frail, but at least more cheerful, and thanks for that. I don't understand why they miss such an important aspect, that Langdon is not only smart, but also a strong athletic man.

I don't even know. When reading the books, I had some idea about Langdon's appearance, and it coincided with the type of actor chosen for the role of Langdon in the series (God forbid, not with Hanks, he was passing by at all, and it's unclear how he got there).

I don't want to find fault, because the series has "gone in", but it seems that the character lacks some kind of obsession with his business and the situation in which he got into. This hero is still a little detached.

I love Dan Brown's books and the story in his "scandalous" performance. The sudden series is a real gift to all connoisseurs of the author's work. There is, of course, something to find fault with in the pilot, but somehow I absolutely do not want to do this. Still, first of all, secrets, riddles and fascinating and informative investigations of the main character are important here, and with this, let's hope, the series will not fail until the very last episode inclusive. Who knows, maybe if the project fires (well, or at least does not fail in ratings), then someday they will get to the film adaptations of other books. "Points of deception," for example. 😇

@alex31: I read "The Sand Devil" - a fierce pile of riddles, action, mysticism, antiquities, symbolism. To me personally, and at Brown, this compote always seems to be "on the verge", but here it is completely far away. You can recommend it only to those who like Brown "the same cabbage soup, but pour it thicker."

Otherwise, it's not bad. The new Langdo did not immediately arouse sympathy. And, frankly, by age, he is much more suitable for this role than Grandpa Hanks.

I really love Brown's books, but I don't watch the film adaptations. One was enough to discourage myself from doing it)
I consider the lost symbol to be the most boring book in the series (or maybe in principle - for me it is somewhere on the same level as the Point of deception) and I do not remember the book at all. But maybe it's for the best - I won't compare it and you can safely look at it in isolation from the book, as a separate work.
I specially waited for the release of several episodes and watched it in one gulp. In general, the series is not bad, it's probably worth watching))

I really liked Zuckerman as Langdon. :3 I don't really like film adaptations of other books, for me the film format is too small to reveal Brown's genius, so I don't have much affection for Hanks either.

Мне дико не понравилось начало серии, где на фоне символов, которым придают негативное значение внезапно показывают ок-знак, вы что, шутите? Как потом это шоу воспринимать серьёзно? А эта показная сцена, где главгад избавляется от улик на глазах полиции, и потом даёт им неиллюзорных, ну очень глупо. Это вот этот вот гений-манипулятор, который всё спланировал и вот так палевно попадается? Я понимаю, хотели добавить экшн сцену какую-никакую, но чёж так коряво? Благо за Ленгдоном и его лекциями по разгадыванию всё ещё интересно наблюдать.

Я просто разочарован, что такая вот непроверенная информация позиционируется на уровне непреложной истины в сериале, причём очень недавней. Считаю, что такому не место в сериале про знающего символога.

Не фанат, но читала все книги Брауна. В принципе, несмотря на то, что они все написаны по одному шаблону (ГГ и вспомогательный персонаж - умная женщина), читать их достаточно интересно (претензия, кстати, не к тому, что женщина "фоновая", а чисто в плане "ну сколько можно, смени пластинку"). Сюжет таких книг у меня вылетает сразу же, после прочтения, так что на этот сериал были большие надежды: "не помню про что, но будет интересно".
Не знаю, что пошло не так, но пилот, несмотря на наличие движухи, вышел достаточно скучным. Книги затягивают с первых страниц, а первая серия через 20 минут превратилась в фоновую.
Возможно, отчасти тому виной деревянный Лэнгдон. Никакущий, просто. Даже если не сравнивать с Хэнксом.

Пилот оставил неоднозначное впечатление.
Ленгдон слишком молодой получился. И поэтому Кетрин из 50летней сестры, превратилась в дочку Соломона. Не очень они 30летние тянут на учёных того статуса, какими они были в книге.
Да и начальник ЦРУ тут слишком красивая и опять таки молодая.
Из Закари сделали агента ЦРУ? Это меняет весь характер персонажа. Интересно как тут будет это обыгрываться?
Картинка красивая, но очень мало акцента на символах. В Капитолии их такое количество было рассказано в книге, а тут как-то вскользь.
