Honestly, I have nothing against the cast of the new Gossip Girl, but I hope that it will end after the first season. I just don't understand why it was necessary to film this?! Couldn't we have invited the old actors of the Gossip Girl series and made a series about their children? I think it would have been much more interesting. In this series, immediately in the first episode, they showed who the gossip girl is, not what kind of intrigue. It is a pity that the creators did not put effort into making the project a success. They probably thought of the name GOSSIP GIRL and people would definitely start watching it. But alas, he slipped. Sorry.
@Sabi_Sabi: "Couldn't we have invited the old actors of the Gossip Girl series and made a series about their children, I think it would have been much more interesting" _____ Maybe the actors from the "original" Gossip Girl are not particularly eager to appear in the new version. I can't imagine Blake Lively in this series at all. And somehow... about their children... The actors are about 35, so they're too young to play teenage parents, aren't they?
Maybe we'll see, if you remember the end of Gossip Girl 1.0, Blair and Chuck already had a son when they showed 6 years later, who was 5-6 years old at the time, and if this kid is 9 years after the last gossip girl post, then he should be the same age as Zoey, although it's strange that Georgina's son Milo is only 12. Although he was clearly born earlier
Well, I will immediately add an opinion about this rebut: well, not bad, of course I expected more, since I recently watched the first version, so the comparison was certainly present, it strained how many topics they tried to raise in just 12 episodes and in general a strained porridge came out, there was no super drama and in some places it was quite played out, but such new characters as Kate, Max and Luna came in, they were the most interesting to watch. Of course, now everyone compares the series more with the Elite because of the explicit scenes, but I think we can still be surprised with something, otherwise what's the point of darning the same series, do you agree? We are waiting for the continuation, let's hope it's more interesting further 🤞
I remember when the season of the "old" gossip girl ended, her train haunted for a long time and I wanted to see a new one soon, there somehow did not happen a connection ... but in general, it's not bad🤔 I really hope that further-more
@Rielsey: and what's the plus? Each character is quite impulsive, catching fire. I don't believe that there will be an idyll in season 2, there will still be someone who will get tired of it.
@veryshka92: it was sad for me to watch Max suffer, in fact, having fallen in love for the first time in his life. And how hard it was for him to experience the separation of his fathers without support. And with Aki and Audrey, they are really important to each other - as friends, for sure. And in general, these three are the most sympathetic to me. There will definitely be no idyll in the second season - the writers here do not leave anyone happy for a long time 😅
I really like this kind of Max - sincere, doubtful, in love. It is clear that these feelings are for the first time for him, that he himself does not understand what to do with them. I'm looking forward to the relationship of this triad in the second season.
I don't like many of the characters here, but I've unknowingly become attached to many of them. My favorites, of course, are Audrey, Aki, and Max (even without their relationship, they're interesting characters + they're easy to empathize with). The ending was great-yes, not breathtaking, but a good ending for season 1. The footage shows how the characters have changed, what has become of their relationship, and what goals they have set for themselves for the next year (the New Year's holiday came in handy). And all these moments, against the background of Julien's message to Gossip Girl, played a very successful role. The beginning of the season annoys me, and most likely I would have dropped the series if it weren't for my favorite trio. In the end, I'm glad I stayed until the end of the story and I'm waiting for season 2.
The main guilty pleasure of all this crinkly action is the strange but sincere frankness of Luna and Max with each other. The second half of the season turned out to be more interesting, perhaps because they minimized this "sisterly feud" between the two most uninteresting characters.
This Kate pisses me off, condemns everyone and everything. And when they tell her the truth (that the mother of some student, that Zoya's father) she freaks out and rolls her eyes 🤦🏻♀️
@morningstarone: Zoey's father is right about something, of course, but what is that mother right about? She basically said that they and their kids are holy aristocrats, and the teachers are ordinary rabble who also need to be punished if they resent something :)0)
Yeah, let's send the one who has no idea what's in the house to get the wine. Poor Max, they just stuck to him. What a stupid idea to have a relationship for three What a bitch this mother is
I would add that a fifteen-year-old girl who knows nothing about wine should be sent to a rich man's cellar, where there may be very rare and expensive wines.. Really? Just bring something?
But I really enjoyed the season. This is not an old gossip girl, this is a new era and she is new in everything. I really liked Max Audrey and Aki, even though it's a little unusual)) I was really worried about them. This is an independent story with its own characters, although they gave us pleasure by inviting Eleanor and Cyrus with Dorota. I'm waiting for the second season
Maybe they didn't reveal Otto's character to us, but to me he seems so boring, so cardboard, sluggish, I don't understand what the girls find in him, especially Julien. For the first time, Zoey liked it, everything she said by the pool was right, and Julien had to hear it.
So far, Audrey, Max and Aki have the most interesting storyline, I can't get enough of them.
P.S. We are waiting for the second season, it seems Monet decided to displace Jaycee from the pedestal, and most likely she will succeed, since Monet and Luna are engaged in promoting Jaycee, without them she would hardly have been so popular.
I didn't understand the last two episodes. That is, throughout the last series, three teachers persuaded one old one not to post all the tips and who sent these tips, because the third World War would begin. As a result, they did the same thing themselves and at the beginning of this series they told how well it should affect schoolchildren. It's not a clear moment, but okay, then I was waiting for the Third World War to really start right now and we'll find out what kind of nasty things were posted about whom and that there would be a whole drama for the whole series, but no. There was nothing at all. But then why was the whole 11 series at all?! What was at the end? So Jaycee decided that she doesn't know how to make the right decisions herself and she needs constant pressure? So she decided to tell Gossip Girl the secrets of her friends, who didn't say anything and didn't ask if they needed it? So she's SO selfish that she would do this to her friends? Kate is generally a separate story. Insanely nasty character. She walks around all in a white coat, and the rest, in her opinion, are bastards. She condemns everyone and everything and behaves, as Nick correctly said, like a saint. At the same time, she is a Gossip Girl! Well, the conceit of course has a person. I'm glad Nick sent her, because she also runs to him only when she needs something, and he liked her. Nick, by the way, is similar to the image of Rufus from the original and, perhaps, as there, one of the most adequate parents. Does what's best for his daughter and that's logical. In general, only Aki, Max and Audrey are happy. I really want the second season to show exactly the relationship of the triad, their problems and development. Because very often such relationships are really shown as a threesome for a short time, but I want to see exactly the triad, and so that there is no such thing yet that Max will fall in love purely with Audrey or with Aki and because of this there will be a conflict. Give them three together, that's what I haven't seen yet and it's interesting!
@SvetlanaNikitina: Yes, I've seen triplets in the Elite, so I want to see a triad relationship, like three equal partners, because that's exactly what I haven't seen yet. Or do you mean just that there was such a relationship in Sirena?
@Purple_unicorn: I also liked the trio of Max, Aki and Audrey. I wanted more of them every episode :) For me, the benchmark in this subject is the wonderful Spanish film El sexo de los angeles from 2011. Handsome, outspoken, and really about the dynamics of relationships in the triad.
The season left a slight fringe after watching - that's it. The sequel is not interesting, the characters are not hooked, the setting is questionable. The storylines are generally kind of silly and naive (to put it mildly). In short, the disappointment of the year, they shouldn't have somehow connected this work with the classic Gossip Girl, it looks more like a continuation of the Elite (which, fortunately, will no longer be)
I wasn't particularly hooked on the storylines, but I like the aesthetics of the series, the modern agenda and the characters are personally pleasant to me, I will watch season 2.
I'll watch the sequel because of Max, Audrey and Aki, it's interesting to watch them, and yet I'm a little worried about Max, very often it turns out that there is an extra third in the trinity, and something I don't really believe that if there is a breakup, then it will be between everyone, I think Audrey and Aki will meet quietly in this case ☹️
Kate is a terribly infuriating character! she creates all sorts of stuff, and on others she is very agitated, she still has a "log in her eye" 🤦🏻♀️
@Rina_Quinn: I think that if the series continues to be filmed, then in any case there will be some conflicts and breakups in this trio. The scriptwriters won't give us peace of mind. But I don't think Audrey will be with Aki alone, as they have been in a relationship for a long time and there is no sexual spark anymore, as I noticed. But let's see, it will definitely be interesting!
In principle, this could have been the end of it, but they extended and extended that they were babbling)
In general, I have already written that how the screenwriter managed to write the most interesting line with Max, Audrey and Aki among all possible remains a mystery))) the feeling when I only remembered them for the whole season, the appearance of the characters of the original gossip girl and that magnificent scene at the Thanksgiving table)
In general, if all the episodes evoked at least approximately the same emotions as the Thanksgiving episode, it would be quite enough)
The sisters and their conflicts are so uninteresting that I don't even want to write about them. Obby is the lackluster character, even surpassed the sisters in the rating))) How can we empathize with someone in the "struggle" for them if we don't see who they really are? What are the girls fighting for? For his name?))))))
There were TV shows in my memory, when by the 2nd season, on the contrary, they diverged and gained momentum) I would like to hope that this is the case) let's see)))
The story is as old as the world: Audrey and Aki have already outlived their usefulness in this relationship, but they can't break up because they've already gotten used to each other - it's convenient, comfortable and familiar. They sort of stay with each other, but at the same time (subconsciously) they're looking for another mate (like me and my previous job). Suddenly they realize that they are both in love with Max. He can even say that he puts back together what has come apart, puts them back together. That's a reason to stay in the comfort zone + get new sensations. A person is looking for someone who can satisfy all his needs. For example, for Audrey, the situation looks like this: Aki - the need for communication, because the passion has disappeared; Max - the sexual need, because it is new and fresh, there is a spark and passion, but as a partner she does not know him yet. It's the same for Aki. But Max, most likely, fell in love with their couple for real, and if their trio breaks up, then it seems to me that he will be the one who will hurt the most.
P.S. I absolutely don't like Aki as a character. Flat, just like his friend Obie. Now it's clear why they're friends.
@Marshal_Way: I agree, Aki is not revealed at all as a character. It's as if apart from his looks, pink hair, his orientation, and his father, there's nothing else to say about him. Their triad is the most interesting thing for me in the series, but many of the characters are completely undisclosed.
@Marshal_Way: +++ I absolutely agree. I would be very surprised if the line is not reduced to the fact that Max stays with one person, and the third one goes his own way. Audrey and Aki have not been interested in each other for a long time, they are close by habit
It lacks the luxury that was in the original Gossip Girl- debutante balls, cotillion and all that. There is absolutely no intrigue in the style of Blair Waldorf, and most importantly - no humor.
Probably, the main problem of the new Gossip Girl is not mega-tolerance, which it's time to get used to over the years. If they somehow rocked the first half of the season on important topics, then in the second half the whole essence of Gossip Girl as a resource has lost its uniqueness. If we recall the original: one episode - one closed topic with a comment from Gossip Girl at the end. Immediately, they rub around the same topic for three episodes, which makes you extremely tired of the hour-long episodes. And virtually nothing remains of "Gossip Girl" except cliched conflicts. Although I did not like the initiative to initially reveal those who are behind the Gossip Girl project. Dan, a schoolboy, did everything more literary than the profile in this subject - Kate! I don't even mention a bunch of references to interesting things and classics in the original. And the ending is such that it would be better if they closed it and did not extend it, because again I can't stand watching the tossing of couples and the barely alive Gossip Girl posts drawn to the "agenda".
If you cut out all the scenes with the teachers, with Obie, with Zoey, well, in general, you can look at the background.
From the pleasant side, I liked the outfits, the dynamics of Lulu and Max, and the relationship between Audrey, Maxi and Aki. The only interesting line, both from the point of view of polyamorous relationships and from the point of view of visual. At the same time, Audrey and Aki are pretty flat, and it's interesting to work only with Max, who is the only deep one from the entire cast.
Of the unpleasant things, teacher Kate was most infuriated by her facial expressions, which looked like a toad or a fish. In the last episode, her "righteousness" was wildly infuriated when she started hitting on Nick for taking money. That's the way it is, often this money is for the maintenance of someone else's child, and there is nothing wrong with this action at all. Julien's father is stupidly obligated to do this. Oh, in short, the most infuriating character is this teacher with some kind of not even double, but triple morality
I agree with many that Trinity is the most interesting thing in the series. The rest of the GG's are more or less annoying, then not interesting, and you forget about their existence. Most of all, in the last episode, I was happy to watch the communication between Luna and Max. A good couple as friends. In general, it would be interesting to develop secondary characters. For example, the Moon and that dark one from Julien's entourage (she changes hairstyles like gloves). We've already seen enough of the main ones.
I didn't notice how attached I became to these characters, and although I don't like a lot of things in the plot (perhaps this is much more than what I like), I will definitely watch the second season))
Kapets in the full sense of the word! Of course, times, styles, and people change, but damn, I've been waiting all season for the atmosphere of the last Gossip Girl to appear at least for a moment. Indeed, where are the debutante balls, brunches, fundraising parties, etc., etc.? I strongly doubt that the old America gave up on all this. Where are the stylish outfits of the main characters? Zoey might as well be from the "provinces," but Julien, dressing like a homeless woman outside of parties? Well, I can't imagine Serena, or even Blair, in some kind of bomber jacket. Relationships are generally the finish line. Are these kids who are 17 or people on the verge of their 40th birthday? A threesome and their ilk. A daughter who abandoned her father. In short, the "cardboard" boys, with the possible exception of Max and sorry, who's a fan, are fast-paced girls. And somewhere out there are teachers who don't know what they want. I wanted to watch and review the last "Gossip Girl", this one should be remembered as a bad dream.
@Анастасия88: I agree with everything, but about clothes, keep in mind that times are different, new and stylish is no longer what it used to be, but just what the main characters wear. But I agree, Julien dresses very collectively for an influencer, the same Audrey and Luna look much more stylish and interesting than she does.
And I really liked the new gossip girl)) comparing it with the old one is complete nonsense, the whole generation has changed, and as for me, the generation of zoomers has performed perfectly. 👍 I like the soundtracks and the style of the characters separately. Waiting for season 2
Gossip and the names of those who sent it were leaked again. More wars between former girls and current ones Again, the confrontation between the two "queens" Again, someone from a poor family does not have enough money to study at Constance And a bunch more storylines from the first Gossip girl..
Definitely, the second half of the season is stronger both in the quality of storylines and the disclosure of characters. Yes, there is no such intrigue as in the original:"Who is she a Gossip Girl???", Teachers sometimes behave comically, but still the story catches on. I think they'll add more momentum in the second season. H.O.H.O.
I don't recall the soundtrack being mentioned in the discussion, but... He's a good guy here. relevant songs, though not from the top of the charts, but good ones. Charlie and Chloe <3
in order for me to finish the series, even a good one, there must be some unrealistic circumstances, but if they do... Why not watch season 2?
but hbo should shoot it as soon as possible. mb it's not worth taking a swing at the seasonal cable channel conver, but if there's a break of 2.5 years, like euphoria, Gossip Girl 2021 won't stand it, not the right level of relevance. but to watch the new season in August/autumn 2022 - why not, again. if something intriguing is shown in the trailers, new viewers will join the 2-3 seasons, as has been the case with some TV series recently.
I liked the Moon..it became interesting, not such a flat personality, it would be interesting to look at her. Why are Zi and Obi not developing in any way..they seem to have stayed in the same place. And thank you for Blair's mom and her husband, as well as for Dorota, and the only thing gossip girl has in common is gossip girl's voice..And that's about it. Not a top series, it just goes against the background of no more))
- Meet me at Max's! In like an hour. I am in Queens. - Queens? Have you been kidnapped?
😁😁😁 Audrey and Aki's dialogues are priceless. Their triad with Max is something magical. I want to continue just for their sake.
It seemed to be more interesting to watch, but Kate is making a fierce cringe - she's standing there in a white coat, she's a saint herself, and everyone around her is fallen people whom she longs to correct. Julien also joined her in the kringe company - she has seven Fridays a week, and she also believes that, unlike everyone else, she can do anything 😬
I'm only happy for Aki, Audrey and Max. The most interesting characters in this theater of the absurd. I don't know how I managed to watch it, but I watched the second season and I don't want to see it. Close, forget, and don't kick Gossip Girl's corpse.
Well, the season is finally over. What can I say, it didn't catch on. At all. The characters are boring and uninteresting, and so are the outfits. Where is the glamour and luxury of Manhattan's rich? I definitely won't be watching the second season.
I watched the season with difficulty , it's a very stupid groundwork for a sequel, the characters don't develop and do the same things. The story of Obie and the sisters is not clear to me at all. a couple of episodes ago, he confessed his love to one, and now he's in a completely different relationship. the sisters are fighting for him, then one of them absolutely didn't give a damn about him just because of Audrey, Aki and Max. so they worry, discuss, propose, and only then come to a decision. but it seems like in the second season, the writers would have rolled over them and they would have had drama on drama. I'd rather not keep watching, and I'll only remember that pleasant feeling when they decided to try a threesome.
I've finally finished it. Boredom. Uninteresting characters, uninteresting plot twists, a lot about abuse, gaslighting and the like modern. The appearance of the characters from the original does not work. Maybe the wrong heroes. The only one I've watched and probably, but not definitely, will watch the second season for is Max. Chuck Bass 2.0 was a success. XOXO
I liked the series, but I am very confused by the actions of the teachers. It seems as if they are not teachers, but also students. The second half of the season seemed more interesting, and I also like that most of the characters reveal themselves, and not just the background.
There is a special kind of masochism - to fake it, to suffer, but still to watch the season. I can't remember the last time I had a series that was soooo tight. The characters are made of cardboard, and for 12 episodes, the scriptwriters gave no reason to get attached to anyone. Perhaps only Max and Luna have some rudiments, sometimes you even understand the motivation of their words and actions, while the rest seem to have ebola of the brain. Plus, everyone is on serious walks, not a single easy and positive moment IN the WHOLE season. The picture also makes the situation worse: every scene is shot in dark colors, the views of New York and the estate are even depressing. I just want to kill myself after watching it. But we all know that we will go and watch the second season, expect the best and suffer again :)
@nikaglikman: Oh, I know, I couldn't stop walking like that, I think that's it, I'll check it out, he'll let me. Yeah, there are 3 more TV series based on them. 🙄
Am I the only one catching a cringe from every teacher scene? Why are these characters in the series at all? They look absolutely stupid and pointless against the background of everything else.
I don't understand if this is really true: teenagers have sex with everyone so much, by the age of 17 they already try as much as adults don't try. The only thing they care about is intrigue and sex. They get drunk in a bar and buy coke. Is it like this almost every day? It's shown in so many TV shows, but I've never seen it in reality.
