I just finished watching the original. And I really like how they turned everything around by making a drama out of a sitcom. A clear explanation of why Will went to live with a rich uncle. Dad is no longer a funny fat guy, Carlton is no longer a dumb dancer, but Hilary! the fact that she doesn't just cook, but that's her whole thing, it's brilliant! In the original series, her character didn't know how to take a knife properly. 😅
