Not a bad start, such a life series: a tired hesitant doctor, lack of staff, an ordinary hospital, not like in the new series: spacious, bright, large windows, renovation. The main character is not a know-it-all, as often happens, in the end we saw
"it's going to hurt" is one of my favorite books, so I'm incredibly excited about the film adaptation. so far, I was pleasantly surprised: I liked everything, from the main character and the atmosphere, to the very life of the hospital and small moments from the book :)
@vk471844: if I'm not mistaken, then in the book most of the plot is still not devoted to the personal life of the narrator, but just some jerky events that happened and short stories from the diary. therefore, the discrepancies are significant. there are some moments from the book in the series, but in my opinion, these are two very full-fledged and completely different works
This is probably a mistake of the translators. In the book "Careful, Christmas," Kay talks about G in the masculine gender, and on the English wiki it is indicated that he is gay 🤷♀️
@Pickerel: It's not written anywhere in the book that he's gay or not. Everywhere it is written in general phrases without specifying m or f. But it is written in the book "Careful, Christmas".
@HannaLapitskaya: A "Russian-speaking" quote is an unreliable fact in such matters. We could have translated it like this, "in general phrases without indication", so as not to fall under the propaganda of non-traditional values.
PS I haven't read it myself, I haven't looked at why I'm writing here - it has nothing to do with the topic.
I liked the operator's solutions🤔 In general, it was shot deliberately suffocatingly, every 5 minutes it pulls to pause and catch its breath. It's easy to go cuckoo in such conditions🙃
Ben, my beloved Ben. The series is heavy, unadorned, and that's why it's heavy. I don't quite understand why there is a 4th wall here. As for me, the drama is a little lost.
I love medical-themed TV shows. I watched all the episodes in one gulp. I really came in, although the first series at first seemed a little strange because of the 4 walls. Another color rendering caught my eye. But the plot has captured, in general, as a result, you do not pay attention to all this It will be necessary to read a book, I missed it at the time
@wvetana: on the contrary, I wanted to look at it from behind 4 walls when I saw a passage somewhere, because I immediately remembered the "flibag" favorite
I was surprised by the choice of actor . While reading the book, I imagined Adam to be completely different, in fact, after reading, I Googled the photo, about the way I imagined it. And Ben, in my opinion, is a miskast, although he does a great job. If not tied to a book, then it is worthy.
Ps I found out about the series completely by accident, although "It will hurt" is the favorite of the cycle. Shore "Careful, Christmas!"😅 To stretch the enjoyment of the stories of Adam Kay
If you are just thinking whether it is worth watching, then I definitely advise you! And this series will really hurt, I don't know why the description says comedy... There are funny moments, rather black humor, and so pure drama. The actors are great, I watched it in one day, I'm waiting for the continuation
I'm just starting to watch, I haven't been hooked on anything for a long time like this series, I advise you to watch, the picture is very beautiful and oh, this wonderful British accent :D
I haven't watched anything with Ben for years & it's quite nice to watch something with him again. The score isn't the best, but I liked one song there.
Harry is a very understanding partner (& I'll be honest: I started watching bc I saw gifs of him and Adam through s1 & I wouldn't mind another good quality gay show. Not bc I like labours. I used to like hospital shows though.) Adam deserves better than a boss that treats him like shit. The exhaustion written all over Adam's body. He hasn't slept properly the previous night (in his car), then the exhausting day, then a night where you can't sleep. So more than 24 without any proper sleep. Even nurses are allowed to sleep during their 24h shift, not to mention doctors. Many people would fuck up, even though yeah, he should've done a blood test.
"It's my second favourite doctor!" "Who's number one?" "David Tennant. First series."
Forgot to mention: they're not breaking the fourth wall very well, in my opinion. Looks and sounds kinda awkward. For example, Millie Bobby Brown did this much better in Enola Holmes.
I myself am now at the 32nd week of pregnancy and now I think - to look further or not😅 on the one hand, I do not want to gain fears, on the other hand, I wonder how it happens in general
@amina166: I hope everything went well. For those who don't want to get too nervous, watch "Call the Midwife." They give birth there in every episode, but everything is kind and all the midwives are very polite and caring. The "midwife" helped me recover from the cynicism of some maternity hospital workers after giving birth and remember that there were golden people there.
Wow. Just wow. I accidentally saw an excerpt on the Internet (the very beginning of the 1st episode, as it turned out), and realized that I couldn't tear myself away from watching it. From the first seconds, full immersion. If it weren't for the rare inserts from the 4th wall, I would have forgotten that I was watching the series and it wasn't real. For some reason, the atmosphere reminded me of the recent film "Everything, everywhere and at once". At least the beginning of the film, although there were enough nasty moments. In principle, I always ignore the topic of having children, motherhood and this whole game (it's not my thing), but everything is set up so that I want to look further. In my opinion, so far it is pulling for one of the best series of this year.
It's a very catchy series. I wanted to read the book, but I never got there, as a result, I just couldn't get past the film adaptation. Each episode leaves an unusual aftertaste, wonderful British humor and you get attached to the characters very quickly. I'm thrilled!
I read the book and didn't know about the series at all. I thought it was a coincidence that the name was the same) There was no limit to the joy that this was a film adaptation. The series is great. Drama and humor. It is very natural and vital.
I really love TV series and non-fiction books on medical topics, and this series is no exception. The first episode caught on with its humor from the very first minutes, excellent camerawork and the destruction of 4 walls with caustic remarks by doc. Yes, a lot of things are not embellished here, as is often the case, the hero is tired and without an eternal smile on his face, but it is from this that he is drawn to look further beyond the everyday life of the maternity ward and the people who are behind all this work
The golden rule of medical series: if at the beginning of the series a hypochondriac patient gets sick of doctors with trivial complaints, by the end of the series it turns out that he actually has a serious illness) But seriously, I liked the first series. It looks really vital, the main character is interesting. I like the combination of drama and humor. I will watch with interest.
I didn't understand, he told me to do a blood test for the patient after his assistant said about the pressure. He didn't tell her to let go. And what is his fault?
As far as I understood, he agreed with the opinion of the nurse and told me to take blood.. but then the patient started saying something about her teeth itching and he said, that's it, go home. Something like this
PS I haven't read it myself, I haven't looked at why I'm writing here - it has nothing to do with the topic.

- Fair question... though, strangely, one you've asked me after you showed me your vagina.
The actors are great, I watched it in one day, I'm waiting for the continuation

I just didn't understand why he buys uniforms for money from a vending machine
