The series is hooked, as a housewife so far, I also sometimes feel like I'm on a shelf. Everything is there and everything is in abundance, but there is not enough freedom and self-realization.
@Mashvat: rather like this, there is a key question whether you like it and not to be decided for you, it's not for nothing that mom and daughter are back at the end (already the third).
@Aspen_Snow: was it shown to be fattened? After all, they get fat when they eat more than they spend, and if her husband was working and she was sitting, it's not a fact that she ate a lot. Energy is also spent on maintaining the body, fitness and sex. Why a year, by the way?
@Viktiriya026: We were shown act 1 here, but the original story said that her husband took her off the shelf to have sex. As for me, there are many other and important changes in the stories, so I recommend reading it. Moreover, they are read much faster than watching episodes, the pace is faster. I've only read one of the filmed ones so far. It's a pity that this is a miniseries, there would be enough stories for another 3 seasons at this rate. Although it is already clear that many would be more difficult and more expensive to film: there are photographs, sitting on a shelf and so on is much easier than showing a gradually disappearing woman, and the material is not always cinematic. But it is already curious that even the last story, after which the series is named, was not filmed. Shoemaker without boots, new version.
@Fiska-Anfiska: thanks for the recommendation, I will definitely read it, I love Ahern and I read all her first books. By the way, the cast is so rich here that I think they had no problems with the budget. Maybe other stories will be filmed in the next seasons.
@Viktiriya026: Alas, the series is closed. It's a pity, I continue to savor it at my own pace, there are 3 more episodes ahead (I haven't watched the first one and the last ones)) and just yesterday I watched a detective story.
I watched the whole episode and thought, what a nightmare, she's like a trophy for him, and she admitted it herself at the end! There's probably another question about personal development after marriage. When one person does not develop, the other finds more interesting things to do outside the family. Well, again, as always, the simple truth is: you should never forget about yourself) A gorgeous series. And I liked the dialogue at the end of the series between mom and daughter)
@ryzhova_am: it's strange that everyone writes only about development. As if there are no divorces and not sitting on the shelves. There may well be a moral here that you can't give up your career and count on someone, anything can happen and feelings gradually cool down. The work of a model is not so much a great development and the husband clearly appreciated beauty, not development. It's just that everything gets boring, especially in such numbers.
It happens, I agree. Someone is sitting, and they are satisfied with it. By development, I just meant a person as a person, his interests and desires. We are shown in the series that she has been plowing since childhood, and has achieved certain heights. And as soon as she got married, she immediately "sat on the shelf." I agree that most likely they wanted to show us that you can't give up everything that you've been doing all your life for the sake of... ahaha, this particular situation, I don't even know ... apparently, to please someone else. A good series that makes you think about yourself)
The coolest episode of the three so far. It is incredibly accurately shown how a wife often becomes a trophy, which eventually loses interest. It's cool to see how hard she jumped off this "shelf", because it was scary and she had to get back on her feet herself, which is literally shown))) It's nice that she found the strength to fuck up this "shelf", it's just a pity that, as it turned out, she didn't learn to live any other way 🤷
@de_javu: "it's just a pity that, as it turned out, she didn't learn to live differently," and I don't agree a little, if she hadn't learned to live differently, she wouldn't have opened a cosmetics store, as far as I understood it. And the move with the shelf in the store seemed quite original for business, and she chose it herself, and not someone for her.
@AlyonaBaranova: My assumptions: her husband organized this new shelf for her ("ok, if you don't want this one, we'll make another one whatever you want") or they divorced and opened a store herself for compensation, but she didn't go far from the previous image, she still chose the role of a beautiful doll
I wanted to write that this is the best episode of the first three so far. It is the most understandable, the metaphors are easy to read and the plot is very interesting. But in the end, I was missing something again. I would like to see her husband's reaction to such an act of hers, to hear their dialogue, etc. Her return to the world turned out to be too easy. Here she is dependent on a man for many years, and then she leaves so easily and everything is fine with her. The moral is too unambiguous, it turns out that there is nothing good in the life of a kept woman, but you need to work on yourself, develop and be independent. But I would like to see the other side of the coin, because independence imposes a lot of obligations on you. The ending, as in the last two episodes, is understood by many in different ways. Personally, it seems to me that she did not become independent, that she stayed with this man and he made this store for her. But the fact that she now has something to do, that she stopped living only for her husband, did not give her independence. She continues to sit on the shelf because she still remains in his power. If he tries to leave, he will drown in this sea of real life, its problems and worries. If I am really right in my interpretation, then I would like to see a hint of this, just a dialogue between them would clarify everything. If she really got off the shelf, threw it away and achieved everything by herself in a year, then it doesn't seem very realistic to me because everything is not so simple in life. You can't just decide at one moment that you want to live a different life and turn your life 180° without problems and obstacles. It will be very interesting to read other comments and find out who understood the ending, maybe I'll learn something new and look at the ending from the other side)

How easy it is to climb up and fall high

Очень наглядно показывает как женщины и на что готовы ради мужчин.
И как больно падать,а затем подниматься.
Лучшая из трёх серий пока что
