Almost every episode has an "encrypted" event from the life of Empress Elizabeth, and almost every character has a prototype. Tommy reminded me a lot of Ludwig II of Bavaria, or rather, his fantasies.

The animated series is wonderful, and it's good that it ended with the triumph of love. After all, the fairy tale ended and the famous wanderings of the sad empress began.
