As Shigeo gradually grew as a character, so did his struggles. In the first season, he learned how to find friends and build relationships with them, in the second - to set the boundaries of relationships, the third season is about how he really values them. Each arch was accompanied by powerful emotional resolutions, and each time it was beautiful and painful, in a good way.

I really like how ONE ended the broccoli arch, allowing Ekubo to play the role of a responsible, sensible adult, cleaning up his own mess and saving Shigeo from having to save the situation. This is a painful and sad, but natural conclusion to this conflict.

The last time I read ONE was in 2017 and I still remember everything well, it's safe to say that Bones and everyone involved managed to convey the feelings I felt when I first read the final arches.

The window is open. Shigeo, Setsuo Ito, it is impossible to cry, it is impossible to resist and not shed tears.

Ekubo's face is shining so much that it looks like tears are actually flowing down his face. The "Exist" MOB CHOIR is playing again. It hurts and feels damn good. Since his appearance as an ally, Ekubo's biggest goal has been to be able to brainwash and control Shigeo for his own benefit. He finally managed to do it... To send Shigeo home safely. Ootsuka Akio, seiyu Ekubo, is just incredible.

I like the simplicity and gentleness of saying goodbye. Ekubo praised Shigeo for remaining humble and down-to-earth despite his enormous strength; ruffling his hair and casually demanding that Shigeo get up and leave, as if a giant voracious broccoli was not waiting for him from behind, ready to devour him; the way he downplays the seriousness of the situation, saying: "I need more To do something, go first." All the while smiling at Shigeo to protect him, to make sure he's safe, so as not to worry him. It's a quiet scene. Ekubo speaks, and then waits and calms Shigeo, who turns back twice. And looks after him. This makes saying goodbye quite simple, but at the same time very emotional.
