Farewell to Winter, as a worthy end to the series

The season as a whole was not bad, but I lost to the first and second. The first season was something so special, charming and shocking. The second season was shocked by the death of Ela (I still can't forgive the creators), revealed a little bit of Winter's past, showed the characters from the other side. Well, the storyline with the brothers was interesting, and their actions and behavior were unpleasant and disgusting.
The third season showed exactly the injuries coming from childhood and adolescence, completed the storyline of Winter, and put all the dots on the relationship between Stockker and Winter. Well, this season has probably been quite difficult morally.
I'm glad it was the last season, that they didn't stretch the plot any further. Another high-quality series in the box "advise others". I'm unlikely to review it, except for only season 1. But for those who have not watched, but love atmospheric detective stories, I will definitely recommend it.

Next, only my opinion as a person for whom the first season was 10/10:

Before the appearance of the second and third seasons, the Pass was one of my favorite series, almost everything was perfectly balanced in it, and the intrigue did not let go until the last. And the ending? It was again perfect and adequately completed the story of Winter — he was immediately presented as an ambiguous and ambivalent character with his skeletons in the closet, and there was a guess that he would not have a good ending, which turned out.

But a few years have passed, and obviously the creators decided to capitalize on the success of the first season. When the second season appeared and they decided to revive Winter, for me it looked stupid and awkward and like a retcon in the style of the ending of half life alyx, but okay, maybe it would lead to something interesting. But for obvious reasons, a new maniac was introduced, that is, the series became a procedural. And for me personally, the series slipped after that. Yes, there was a pretty bright maniac in season 2 (although again, he's far from Krampus, in my opinion), but that's it.

Why they did this, I don't really understand, the background story of Winter this season looked forced and just to be, and the maniac himself, although he was also quite memorable, but in my opinion they didn't reveal him at all, literally only the last 2 episodes were devoted to the full disclosure of this Persian and that he influenced others, and flashbacks in at the beginning of the series, they didn't really fit into the overall picture in any way so that they could gasp like wow! That's it.

In season 1, there were whole pieces of how we watched Krampus and his actions, thoughts, and it created intrigue, but here? Why did you need a Nazi with a dog to do what? So that he killed a colleague and it was given 2 minutes at the end? Why was there this unnecessary conflict between Ellie and Winter, why did they show some kind of mental tossing of Ellie? This unnecessary line with a reporter, these protesters in the forest, literally every element was untwisted and it is unclear why it was.

Probably my opinion is not very popular, but since I've been waiting 2 weeks to write it...
season 3 is stronger than season 2. And in general, for me, the finale of "The Pass" will almost certainly enter the top 10 series for 2023 (I would like to make plans for some tops nowadays).
I liked that the heroes resolved their revenge, and in the way they needed to. The bromance of Ellie and Gideon, of course, is not easy, but their dance (sorry, but it smelled like Titanic here, although there is no romance between the characters here, and thank God) is probably not real, brings a line to their relationship: from anger to understanding and acceptance.
I really liked this atmosphere of a gloomy house in the style of Scandinavian noir: majestic nature, the external well-being of life, and longing, longing, longing around all the characters, awareness of the inevitability of an impending storm.
In general, I am very pleased. Well, it's good that we're done.

What can you watch with the same atmosphere?

Still, it's a very strained and unnecessary season. He is drawn out, sad and mired in self-reflection of the characters. In particular, in the obvious and long-understood past of Gideon. Watching Winter sit silently, sullenly in the dark with a glass for several minutes in each episode and look at a picture with a boy is too much. Artificial tightening of the timing plus is of little interest to the general outline.

The investigation has been pushed far to the margins. The very ridiculous death of one of the cops (all in uniforms and helmets, and this one is far from special forces and without a helmet), the same ridiculous disclosure of the main squad (oh my God, they couldn't put these CAPITAL letters with the names of only 4 (four!) victims. Draining the rest of the suspects so naively (it's stupid to kill yourself with such philosophizing, it's so easy).

Very, very weak. Against the background of previous seasons, this one looks like a misunderstanding. It was only because of the duo of the main characters that I liked that I had to finish watching this unnecessary season.

Who were those dirty children? Is this the past in Yakl's time or is it the Field period?

The series is great. For me personally, the favorite is the second season. The third one is too creepy and gloomy because of this story with Satanists and fanatics that stretches through the entire season. Ellie has so many losses over the entire series, she has become a different person compared to the first episodes. Gideon did his job- closed the gestalt and retired. It's good that the series ended up with a closed ending.

I started watching because of the associations with the magnificent bridge, as a result I got an excellent and self-sufficient series

This season has been difficult. But the ending is good, like a piece of art. Quite a happy ending

After all, why did Ellie forgive Gideon for Elena? Somehow, this is not sufficiently explained and disclosed...

It turned out to be a very meditative season. The magnificent atmosphere of something mysterious and unknowable. What is happening is viscous, but not protracted. As if this is how it should be, to match what is happening. Great series🥀

I didn't really like the third season with this mystical plot. I liked the first two "mundane" ones better. And the ending is kind of ragged. And this story with the paintings and the commune seemed far-fetched.
