TV shows like to discredit the profession of a psychologist. Every other psychologist character just loves to bring his relatives to a nervous breakdown by tactlessness. The main character is simply incompetent.

I think Vera's father knows what happened to Billy, that's why he's so angry at Vera's questions. And someone killed Tommy, he didn't go anywhere.
