Inconspicuous, a little absent-minded, a little funny, Father Brown only looks like a simple-minded eccentric with an eternal umbrella. Excellent intuition, attention to detail and deep analysis allow him to solve the most difficult cases.

He is a good actor in the main role, and the plot is based on good, although now very naive and childish stories. This, in fact, ends all the advantages of this "ancient" series. It was installed, removed and mounted very simply, if not primitively. It's close enough to the original, with almost no attempt to refresh it with irony. I admit that it was interesting 40 years ago, but now it's frankly boring to watch.

I came across this series after I enjoyed watching several seasons of the TV series Father Brown (2013) and the wonderful film Father Brown (1954) with the great Alec Guinness. I was hoping that there would be at least something like this, but I was mistaken. The series, in my opinion, is worthy of viewing only as an average-quality illustration of the language and surroundings of that period. Well, and for the most devoted fans of Chesterton.

Language. They speak well, correctly, not too fast, and quite intelligibly. However, the characters are often difficult to explain, the stylization of the language of that time also does not make it easier to understand, and it is not easy to find normal original subtitles.
