If it had been a movie, at the very end it would have turned out that in fact they all died in that accident. It would be an interesting mix of genres for a serial format, and certainly more interesting than Lost.

I remember as soon as I started watching the series, someone wrote that for the sake of a moment with Gloria in episode 11 of season 6, it's worth watching)
