I decided to Google it a bit and that's what I found out. Once upon a time there was such a man - Mauritz Escher, who loved to draw lithographs. In general, Escher once painted the village of Castrovalva - this is a real place in Italy. And yet the same Escher drew the lithograph "Relativity", which presented a mixture of several realities with their own physical laws and planes of perception. Actually, we also saw the same picture in the finale of this episode, when the characters ran both normally and upside down. In general, this story was clearly inspired by Escher's work, starting from the name of the location where the events took place and ending with a local anomaly that broke the space.
