Alas, it's much worse than the book, and the wonderful actors don't even save it. alas, at the moment this applies to all film adaptations of Terry Prattchett's books (except for Homage, but this is also debatable)
It's not exactly a masterpiece, but it's pretty good. even minor characters like Nobby and Constable visit-the-unbeliever-with-an-explanatory-booklet were not forgotten with: and Susan and the tea boy are wonderfully good.
A good, vivid and informative plot with events that are unusual even for the Discworld, and characters that are extraordinary even by local standards. Death and Death's granddaughter, Santa the Boar and the Tooth Fairy, the Guild of Assassins and mysterious auditors, elves, guards and wizards seem almost ordinary against their background.
As usual, Terry Pratchett has produced a gorgeous mix of hilarious mocking irony and elegant parody, with an abundance of humor, including black, full of all sorts of references and highlights of philosophical tales and meaningful phrases. Conditional, but strict logic, paradoxically turns the usual axioms and established positions inside out, bringing them to a revealing absurdity. Witty, entertaining, and "brain-stimulating."
Intrigue, an abundance of delightful original thoughts and details, oddly enough, do not simplify the work of a screenwriter and director, go ahead and film such a wealth. In addition to the obvious difficulties, such as transferring sarcasm, generous text and subtext to the screen, the production is also complicated by the inevitable inflated expectations of fans of the original book source. I can't say that Vadim Jean has successfully overcome these difficulties, however, in my opinion, this is the best film adaptation of a Discworld story so far. With excellent casting, relatively accurate and attentive to the original, diligent, sometimes talented, maybe a little "under-tuned", and generally not too boring. It is quite possible to see.
They usually say nothing particularly complicated, there are no terrible accents. Sometimes they speak often, sometimes they don't pronounce it quite clearly. Ian Richardson makes you happy with his pronunciation again. Subtitles will help you evaluate the names, some of the words and tricks.

I review it every year for the "Horror Story")))
Once again, I was very surprised to realize that Susan (Michelle Dockery) is Mary from Downton Abbey.
I love British TV series for their cast members! Only stars)))
